Don't let your body odor hold you back! You deserve a beautiful (smelling) future.
Even if you have the best hygiene possible, body odor can still become a villain to us all. Not only can it prevent us from getting that first date, but it can also leave our phones dry since visits and invites to hang out with friends quickly decline.
Not saying that all funk is bad, though. (James Brown sure revealed this in his “King of Funk” title.) And sometimes, we need a little funk after a workout to know we put in work.
However, when body odor comes while we speak or as we walk around the park with a crush, things begin to look (and smell) super bad. In order to avoid these unsavory smells, many utilize body odor remedies to either cover up their odors or get rid of them from the inside out.
So if you’re looking for some body odor remedies to ditch the funk, here are 10 of ENTITY’s best suggestions.
Sometimes our schedules make it hard to shower every day, especially in the 21st century when we tend to plan our days down to the minute. However, showering more often – at least once a day – can stop common body odor issues.
There are many odor blocking soaps, such as Old Spice’s Body Wash Odor Blocker, Dial’s 24 Hour Odor Blocker or Scent-A-Way’s Max Deodorizing Bar Soap. If you use them when you shower or bring them with you when you leave your house to wash your problem areas (such as your armpits), they can vastly decrease your body odor.
Sometimes the type of deodorant you use simply isn’t enough to get the job done. Many deodorants now have clinical strength versions that you could use, such as Degree or Secret.
However, if those don’t work, there are some deodorant brands that specifically target those with strong body odors, such as Certain Dri Antiperspirant (Extra Strength Clinical).
This body odor remedy helps bad breath. Many people don’t realize that the teeth aren’t the only things that need cleaning in our mouths.
The tongue houses and clings onto smells, especially the back parts of our tongues. Therefore, if you scrub it with your toothbrush during your usual teeth cleaning regimen, then you’ll notice your bad breath become a thing of the past.
In the event that brushing your tongue doesn’t help your breath, try using mouthwashes after you brush your teeth. And while you’re at it – floss. Brands like Listerine, Colgate or Crest make great rinses that focus on eliminating bad breath.
Believe it or not, your diet can affect your body odor – not just your breath, but the rest of your body as well. As we digest food, our body breaks them down and some wastes are emitted through our skin’s pores. So to avoid this, try eating fewer greasy or intense-smelling food you wouldn’t want to your body to emit later on.
In the same vein as healthier foods, there are natural supplements that prevent your body to emitting bad smells through your pores through easing digestion and guiding wastes afterward. These supplements include SuperBeets, zinc supplements, B-vitamins supplements and magnesium supplements.
Sometimes your clothes absorb the smells from your body. This, then, becomes a major issue when you wash them with regular detergents and dryer sheets because the smells that are still in your clothes mix with the body odor. And as you probably guessed, things just get worse from here.
Scent eliminating detergents and dryer sheets would prevent this from happening. And once you’ve got great smelling clothes, those clothes can then potentially mask your regular body odor, if necessary.
Antiperspirant wipes wouldn’t work for people with super strong body odors because you’d probably end up running through the packages pretty fast.
However, if you only have certain days when your body odor is stronger than usual or if your regular body odor is on the light side, then antiperspirant wipes are an easy way to remedy these issues.
Materials such as latex and wool could increase how much a person sweats, thereby increasing their body odor. So to avoid this, wear materials that allow for better airflow, such as cotton.
Odor sprays cover up smells more than they fix the problem. And sometimes, these sprays don’t actually cover the odors, they just mix with the bad smells to make a worse smell. That is not to say that they don’t work, though. You just wouldn’t want to waste your money on a brand that says one thing, when the product actually does another.
Therefore, read reviews for these odor sprays before you use them. Brands that have high reviews tend to be Sweat Block, Fresh Wave Odor Removing Spray and Naturally Fresh Spray Mist.
So there you have it. These are the most common fixes to body odor issues. However, if you’ve tried everything and nothing seems to be working to remedy your body odor, you should contact your doctor or call an endocrinologist to see if there might be a health issue at play.
