Entity's sad playlist for Hillary Clinton supporters after Donald Trump became president.

Music has the power to soothe and heal in the toughest of times and as Donald Trump assumes his post as U.S. President-elect, devastated Hillary Clinton fans will be reaching for their playlists of sad songs.

But what tunes could possibly convey the sadness of the Democrats as their Republican nemesis acquires the keys to the White House?

Happily, ENTITY has the answer. Here are 10 heartbreaking classics to put your soul at ease.

1 Everybody Hurts – REM

A song originally written for depressed teenagers, it later became the theme tune to an advertising campaign for a suicide prevention hotline. Could this same hotline be bracing for a record number of calls?

2 Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now – The Smiths

A song so sad it prompted lead singer Morrissey to be nicknamed “The Pope of mope,” this was believed to be based on Vivian Nicholson, an Englishwoman who won a fortune in a contest but then lost it all after going on a wild spending spree.  Investors across the Atlantic are already feeling the pinch as markets have been tumbling since early election results rolled showing Donald Trump’s prowess at the polls.

3 Crying – Roy Orbison

Featured in everything from a drunk driving prevention commercial to an episode of “The Sopranos,” this mournful effort topped the charts back in 1961. As tears are flowing in the Clinton camp, this classic could be resurrected to mark the end of an era.

4 Back to Black – Amy Winehouse

In which Amy Winehouse contemplates an empty future after the devastating end of a relationship. Adding  to the bleak mood, the video even features a funeral procession. This may appropriately capture the black mood of Hillary fans across the country.

5 Mad World – Gary Jules

Inspired by the theories of Arthur Janov, author of “The Primal Scream,”  it suggests that only intense experiences such as death can release mounting tension. It was used in the bizarre film “Donnie Darko” which was utterly weird.  Some may call the 2016 U.S. Presidential election a “weird” outcome.

6 Hold On – Sarah McLachlan

Grief over a lost loved one permeates this downer from a singer who specializes in sad songs.  McLachlan has performed so many of them that her greatest hits collection could well soar to number one as half the nation struggles to cope with a Clinton defeat.

7 Someone Like You – Adele

A song inspired by her boyfriend of 18 months leaving her and later getting engaged to someone else, Adele delivered a true heartbreak anthem here.

8 Stop Crying Your Heart Out – Oasis

Poignant power ballad often played at public moments of disappointment – it became the anthem for the England soccer team’s failure at the 2002 World Cup.  This would be an appropriate swan song as a Clinton era has been ushered out.

9 Yesterday – The Beatles

The Fab Four were never more melancholy than in this break-up song. Clinton fans and those who chose not to vote could be longing for “yesterday” – when they still had hope things would turn out differently.

10 Creep – Radiohead

Thom Yorke revels in self-pity and bemoans a lack of confidence. Hillary Clinton fans may find solace in this tune as they lick their wounds.
