ENTITY Academy summer writing program mentorship program

Sunny Los Angeles. It’s a dream for a girl from a small town in Ohio. Sandy beaches? Hollywood? That’s all fine, but my time here isn’t going to be spent solely on sightseeing.

I’m here for the ENTITY Academy Summer Writing Program, a mentorship and SEO writing program designed to empower women. With that in mind, here’s what I can’t wait to learn this summer.

1 Learning From #WomenThatDo

The women who work at the ENTITY Academy Summer Writing Program are unique. They come from all different backgrounds and each has been working hard to develop their own voice. They’ve had experiences ranging from hard news journalism to working at teen magazines.

As someone who hasn’t even finished college yet, all I want to do is soak up knowledge and learn how to find my place in the world. Learning from these women is the perfect place to start.

2 Gaining Confidence in Myself

Hope to gain confidence at the ENTITY Academy summer writing program like Zendaya

I could practice a speech all day, but put me in front of a crowd of people — and the definition of a crowd here is pretty open-ended — and I’ll start shaking like a leaf. It doesn’t matter how much others assure me or I assure myself that I have something important to offer, I’m always afraid.

ENTITY actively fights against competition between women and value female empowerment. I can’t imagine a better place to find my own voice and face my fears.

3 The Love Yourself Summit

This event, which focuses on body positivity and mental health, comes at the end of the program, but I’m sure that self-love is something that we’ll be working toward over the course of our time here. We all strive for self-love, but it’s difficult to practice. The lineup of speakers for this event is amazing (including Hunter McGrady and Alyson Stoner!)  and I can’t wait to hear more about their experiences.
