Want to be more mindful of your skincare and the environment?
Some of our favorite skin care products are filled with disgusting ingredients. Just a few commonly-used ingredients include snail slime, bull semen, fish scales and chicken bone marrow. Yikes!
How can we be sure to avoid spreading these vomit-inducing substances on ourselves? The answer to this, and so many questions about consumerism, is to shop vegan.
Not only does shopping vegan make understanding all parts of the product easier, it’s also a sustainable and ethical choice. While many think of veganism as a dietary it’s so much more. Here are our top five vegan skin care products.
This $22 cleanser boasts only three ingredients: organic rosewater, organic vegetable glycerin and organic tea tree oil. Dermstore reviewers give it five stars across the board because it works on a range of skin types, even sensitive skin. SW Basics also claims that their non-foaming formula is extra safe on the skin.
At only $13, this vegan moisturizer feels like a steal. The formula, which gives your skin major moisture but absorbs quickly, claims to work on anything from daily dryness to eczema. It also leaves behind a slight citrus scent so it smells refreshing without being overwhelming.
This $22 mask makes a statement with its beautiful, minimal packaging, but also its simple list of ingredients. It somehow only contains three: Cambrian Blue Clay, White Kaolin Clay and Rose Geranium essential oil. The mask claims to reduce existing blemishes while also preventing future breakouts. It’s also customizable, coming in a powder that’s meant to be mixed with water to attain desired thickness. Its unique form helps the mask last much longer than others on the market.
At $75 a bottle, this serum better be good. Luckily, reviewers have called it “magic in a bottle.” The serum is meant to help brighten and rejuvenate dull skin. Perfect for the stressed or the overworked, this product will make you look like a million bucks when you feel like much less. The product also claims to even skin tone, helping speed up your morning routine by eliminating the need for foundation.
It’s definitely pricey at $79, but this exfoliator is a rare find. Where else can you get an exfoliator safe for sensitive skin? It’s also conveniently made with disposable cotton pads. The product promises to clean and moisturize without leaving your skin feeling tight. The chamomile in the product also works to keep skin calm while also removing dead and dirty cells.
These cruelty-free products not only aid the environment, they are totally safe on skin. If you’re not ready to go full vegan, consider starting with skincare.
