Entity explains what celebrities have been ghosted.

You’ve been on a handful of dates, met his parents and feel like he might be The One … until he suddenly stops returning your text messages. According to The Huffington Post, nearly 80 percent of women have been ghosted, or have had communication abruptly cut off (without any formal “goodbye”) until they get the hint and move on. Basically, ghosting is a breakup without the breakup talk – and it’s happening to everyone, including these five celebrity exes listed on Flare.

1 Russell Brand and Katy Perry

Have you ever been dumped over text? It’s not a fun feeling – especially if you’re married. If you ever watched Katy Perry’s documentary “Piece of Me,” you saw the tension a tour schedule can put on a marriage. When Russell Brand asked for divorce over text, though, there was no going back. The ex-couple apparently didn’t talk for two years after their divorce – at least until Brand sent Perry a “good luck” Tweet for her 2015 Super Bowl performance. First ghosts, and now tweets … dating is getting weirder by the minute.

2 Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio

Before dating her now-husband Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively’s name was tied to Leonardo DiCaprio. You wish your dates sounded this fun: touring Europe, bike riding in New York City and visiting on the set of “The Great Gatsby” in Australia. But then Lively moved on to Reynolds – and you know the rest of the (wedding) story.

3 Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal

Though Jake Gyllenhaal might sound like old news in light of Taylor Swift’s recent breakup with Tom Hiddleston, can you really forget the “Everest” actor? Apparently Gyllenhaal was a no-show on Swift’s 21st birthday and the relationship petered off from there. The breakup was featured on Swift’s hit album, “Red,” though, so there is a silver (CD) lining.

4 Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

In the case of celeb Katie Holmes, “ghosting” refers to her breakup method and her spy skills. Without Cruise knowing, she reportedly secured a new apartment, cell phone and her own legal team. She hasn’t looked back after the divorce … as you probably would if you left the Church of Scientology in the dust along with your ex.

5 Charlize Theron and Sean Penn

What if everyone says you ghosted someone when you didn’t? Welcome to (a less glamorous part of) Charlize Theron’s life. In 2015, US Weekly reported that Theron “just cut [the relationship] off” after she and Penn vacationed at Cannes. Considering that Penn was working to adopt Theron’s three-year-old son, her alleged rejection of any attempts to talk scream of a “ghosting.” But in March of 2016, Theron told WSJ Magazine that she never ghosted Penn. She instead claims that they “both decided to separate” – and that she doesn’t even know what ghosting is.

Whether you believe her or not, here’s one truth: Ghosts, at least in dating, are real – and they haunt celebrity relationships just as much as our own.
