5 Facts About Anna Kendrick, the Well-Rounded Actress

Anna Kendrick, whose performances have earned her nominations for both Tony and Academy Awards, continues to push the boundaries.

Her roles in movies such as “Pitch Perfect,” “The Twilight Saga” and “Up in the Air” made her a sought after actress. So what is she doing now?

The actress, of Irish, Scottish and English descent, is making big moves. What’s a girl to do after accomplishing so much already by the age of 31? Nearly two decades into her acting career, there’s no telling where she’ll go. Although she’s often dubbed as the “Pitch Perfect star,” Anna Kendrick demonstrates her worth in a number of ways.

1 She recently published a memoir.

Shortly after releasing her book in 2016, Anna Kendrick talked about “Scrappy Little Nobody” on the “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

“You’re scrappy,” said Stephen Colbert jokingly, transitioning into her book. “How are you a nobody?” The singer/actress responded with a sweet anecdote about her brother recalling her first days as a young actress looking for jobs. He told her, “Dude, you’re still scrappy. You just get more emails now,” to the laughter of the crowd. That’s how she got the name of her book.

2 Reports say she’ll be starring in Paul Feig’s “A Simple Favor.”

Anna Kendrick will be starring in an adaptation of Darcy Bell’s thriller alongside actress Blake Lively, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Production for the film will begin in August, and the stars will work in Toronto.

Darcy Bell’s “A Simple Favor,” tells the story of a mommy blogger from a small town whose friend suddenly disappears. Jessica Sharzer, who worked on “American Horror Story,” will write the script. However, the film won’t be done until after “Pitch Perfect 3” the musical is released.

Will there be singing involved in this adaptation of “A Simple Favor?” Probably not. Sorry everyone. No signs of a musical here.

3 A third round of “Pitch Perfect 3” is on the way,

The popular musical series propelled Anna Kendrick further into stardom. The first edition proved to be a hit, and “Pitch Perfect 2” even more so. The second of the sequel earned more at the box office than the original. What will fans think of the third?

“Pitch Perfect 3,” scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 22, 2017, will continue the story of Beca (Anna Kendrick), a college student who struggles not be be part of any cliquey group. But, she finds that singing and music are the best ways to bring everyone together.

Let’s just say, there’s no doubt where Anna Kendrick fans will be come the end of December…

4 She’s been in the business for almost 20 years.

The 5 foot 2 inch actress landed her first role in the acting biz when she was just 12 years old, and probably not 5 foot 2 inches at the time. It wasn’t just any role at any old theater, though. The musical “High Society” cast her for a role in their production. On Broadway. There, she earned her first nominations for a number of awards, and won a Theater World Award. She received nominations for Featured Actress in a Musical at the Drama Desk Awards and Tony Awards, too.

Then in 2003, she landed a supporting role in the New York City Opera production musical, “A Little Night Music.” Not too shabby, Anna.

5 She was nominated for an Oscar for “The Twilight Saga.”

While the saga was still in production, Anna Kendrick received recognition for her acting ability.  A major blockbuster at the box office, “The Twilight Saga” gave the public a chance to see her in action. That is, if they hadn’t seen her work before.

After seeing her performances in these hit films, mostly happy and comedic, it will be interesting to see her performance in the new thriller. “A Simple Favor” won’t be out till 2018, so there’s some time to ruminate on that one.
