5. She loves Haleb just as much as we do.
“Pretty Little Liars” is over now, but we will definitely miss our favorite fashion designer, Hanna Marin. But even more so, we will miss Ashley Benson’s awesome portrayal of her.
But who is she, really? Outside of Hanna, what else do you know about Ashley?
If you’re struggling to find an answer, here are six facts about this talented actress outside of “Pretty Little Liars.”
Ashley Benson was born in Anaheim, California to Shannon and Jeff Benson. Before the age of 10, she was modeling for dance catalogs and Ford print advertisements. She moved into small acting roles in “Zoey 101” and music videos for Lil Romeo, NLT and Hot Chelle Rae. However, this would only be the beginning for Ashley Benson.
When she was 15 years old, Benson signed a three-year contract with the NBC series “Days of Our Lives.” She played Jack Deveraux and Jennifer Horton’s oldest daughter, Abigail “Abby” Deveraux. The show filmed two or three episodes a day, so Benson was constantly on set or memorizing her lines.
She left the show in 2007, however, to pursue a career in film. In an interview with FanBolt, Benson disclosed that while she felt “honored” to be on the famed soap opera, she was glad to have “[moved] on to bigger and better things.”
Before PLL, Ashley Benson was often typecast as a cheerleader in films. Perhaps she drew inspiration from her sister, Shaylene, who was a cheerleader for the LA Lakers. This high school “It Girl” image has followed her fairly consistently throughout her career.
In 2007, she played the high school cheerleader, Carson, in the film “Bring It On: In It to Win It,” which was the fourth movie of the “Bring It On” series. This girl-next-door role would have been a breeze for Benson, except for one little detail. She’s afraid of heights.
She did her own stunts in the film and was admittedly petrified every time she was thrown into the air for a scene. When asked about doing her own stunts, she told Fan Bolt that she “didn’t expect it to be this hard.”
Then, in an episode of the CW show, “Supernatural,” she played a witch disguised as a cheerleader. She also starred in the Lifetime original, “Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal,” as the head cheerleader, Brooke, in 2008.
This blonde bombshell seems to always fall into the popular girl character, and her role in “Pretty Little Liars” is no exception.
This dynamic duo is known by fans as ButtahBenzo. Ashley Benson and Shay Mitchell are #friendshipgoals that we can all aspire to. When they’re not on the set of “Pretty Little Liars,” they are always taking bomb selfies and hysterical Snapchat videos together.
While Ashley Benson is close with the “Pretty Little Liars” cast as a whole, it’s clear that her relationship with Shay is special. And fans just can’t get enough of these partners in crime.
They seem to always be having a blast, especially as they vacation together. Benson has also been caught telling Shay, “I want to get your name tattooed all over my body.”
Now that is love.
Ashley Benson is a self-proclaimed dog fanatic. If you follow Ashley Benson on social media, you will know that her fur babies are her life. She totes them around everywhere she goes and she’s always snapping photos to let fans share in their cuteness.
She adopted these two cuties from the animal shelter and they have been attached at her hip ever since then. Just look at those faces!
Dogs are a borderline obsession for this PLL star. She has even said that if she were an animal she would be a dog.
You heard that right, folks. Ashley Benson actually cried when she found out that Hanna and Caleb were no longer going to be a couple in “Pretty Little Liars.” She admitted that this PLL relationship is her favorite and she was crushed when they split up. However, her grief was put to rest when Haleb was back at it again in the final season.
While Benson loves Hanna and Caleb as a couple on PPL, she says that she would not date actor Tyler Blackburn in real life. They are very close friends, though. Guess some love stories are just better on TV.
Causing chaos on the PLL set is basically Ashley Benson’s pastime. In the middle of filming the
“Pretty Little Liars” theme song, she broke out dancing in front of everyone. She doesn’t take pranking breaks, either. On her day off, she prank called her manager to make sure that everyone got a taste of her silliness.
And although this isn’t really a prank, we still thought we should share it with you. When BFF Shay Mitchell was getting ready in her dressing room, Benson came out of nowhere blasting Beyonce and dancing in a fat suit. Yes, that really happened. And yes, she really is that silly.
Ashley Benson is pretty much as awesome as they come. When she isn’t pulling pranks on set you can always catch her cracking jokes with her BFF.
Plus, she’s a romantic who has a borderline obsession with her pets. So really, she’s not that different from the rest of us.
