Entity reports on giant asteroid that skimmed Earth's atmosphere.

One scroll through our overwhelmingly politically Facebook feed has many of us thinking that the world really is coming to an end.

But while we’ve been busy shaking our heads at Trump’s latest 140-characters, the earth has had not one, but four close collisions with massive asteroids.

The latest bus-size asteroid flew between the earth and the moon at 3:25 PM EST this past Thursday (February 2). Previous to the most recent rock (traveling at an incredible 25,800 miles per hour), three other objects have come within the earth’s lunar orbit over the past month.

While we’ve managed to escape unscathed, it’s unclear just how pressing future asteroid threats are. Understanding asteroid behavior is a science still in early exploration by NASA.

What we can be sure of, is that we are in for a long four years ahead – unless of course, we’re not so lucky with the next flying rock.
