The first day of Summer is right around the corner! I for one can’t wait for the sunshine, the ocean and endless days of lying on the sand. Okay, so I’m definitely headed to the beach. What about you? Even if you aren’t, odds are you will need a swimsuit wherever you’re going. Before you start searching for the “Bikini Trends Summer 2018,” hear me out.

Styles are forever changing, fading or making a comeback. Well this season, bikinis are on their way out, and one pieces are coming back.  According to a 2017 article from Fashionista.com, multiple brands such as Polyvore, Lsyt and Shopstyle have seen a significant drop in sales for bikinis, and a large increase in sales of one-pieces.

What has made this trend pick up so rapidly and continue to stay on top for over a year? The answer is not so cut and dry. Fashion never is. There are multiple reasons for the bikini to be headed out, but one of the biggest may be the variety of styles that now exist in one-pieces. Ranging from cut-out, to tie-dye, to patterns, to velvet, there is a one-piece for everyone. It’s just not as fun to switch up two-pieces, because there’s only so much you can do to them!

Another reason for this trend may be the era of Instagram that we are currently living in. Many social media influencers like celebrity Lea Michele, and fashion blogger Emily Herren, (also known as Champagne and Chanel) are continually posting photos of themselves in cute one piece swimsuits. Trends spread like wildfire once Instagram gets involved. Whether it’s the swimsuit brands or the influencers themselves who chose the suits, it’s clear that one pieces are very, very in.

Check out the links below to find a few affordable options for your new Summer BFF. Sometimes two (pieces) are not better than one!
