Entity reports that caffeine improves memory.

Are you the type of person who drinks between two and five cups of coffee a day? Or maybe even between five and nine cups?

Well, even if you’re the type to just have one cup of morning Joe, ENTITY has some pretty exciting news for you caffeine crazy ladies!

Caffeine improves memory when enjoyed at this time of day, Entity reports.

A recent study discovered that drinking caffeine after learning a new skill, or studying new material actually improves your long-term memory.

The study was pretty simple. Researchers administered a learning task in which participants were shown different images. They were then asked to classify whether each image represented an indoor or outdoor object.

After that, the subjects were given either a dose of caffeine or a placebo. Then, 24 hours later, they were asked to identify images (stimuli) from the day before. Target stimuli represented the original images the subjects saw during the learning task. Foils represented unrelated images. And lures, represented images similar, but not identical to, the target images.

They found that subjects who took “caffeine were more accurate in recognizing the tested objects as being similar rather than never seen before,” compared to the placebo group. This evidence supports the idea that caffeine does in fact enhance long-term memory.

Essentially, caffeine is a form of an outside, external cognitive enhancer. It’s literally capable of changing your brain when you choose to ingest it. In other words, just drinking coffee can alter our brain and performance for the better without much thought or effort at all!

Not only does this study support the idea that we, as women, are directly in control of improving our brain function, but it also provides insight as to when to drink your coffee!

In today’s ever-increasing competitive world, cognitive enhancers might just be the easiest way to “get ahead of the brain.”

So why not drink your coffee when it counts the most? After studying for an exam, reading an article, learning a new skill or memorizing new information, treat yourself to a nice big dose of caffeine. Twenty-four hours later, you’ll be reaping the benefits of a sharper long-term memory!
