Canadian doctor not penalized after sexual assault against female colleague, Entity reports.

Dr. Syed Nasir Ali sexually assaulted a fellow doctor in her own home in 1999. You’d think that would have affected his medical career… but no.

Since 1999, after pinning Dr. B down in her own home, this man continued practicing medicine “without consequence.” How many times are we going to let this happen?

Of course, a Superior Court Justice recently ruled that he pay Dr. B $200,000 in damages for the incident, but that doesn’t really make up for the violation, now does it? Especially it being in her own home, where she should have been able to feel safe.

And you know, seeing as he was able to continue all those years practicing medicine I’m sure he’s more than good for it. Ali was never charged criminally for the assault and his record shows no discipline nor any restrictions on his license.

Dr. B expressed an “extreme sense of relief” after the verdict of the civil court, describing the “humiliation” she had suffered for 17 years thanks to Ali. She also hoped that the College of Physicians and Surgeons would consider investigating Ali, seeing as they are allowed to discipline physicians for conduct in their personal lives.

However, a college spokesperson of course declined to comment on whether or not they would be investigating the man. It seems fair enough, considering not only the horrible atrocity committed against Dr. B, but also the notion that maybe you wouldn’t want to give a predator access to vulnerable people in society seeking out care.

We’ve seen this play out nightmarishly before, such as in the case of Larry Nassar. Cases of rape and assault were ignored in the ‘90s allowing him to continue his abuse until he was finally fired – on a technicality – in 2016.

It’s honestly bullshit and we all know it. And like Joe Biden says, silence on these issues is complicity. It’s not always safe for the women to come forward. So if you can, you need to. Because really, enough is enough.

I’m sick of writing about these assholes.
