ENTITY reports on why Cazzie David is a new comedy icon.

If you haven’t heard of Cazzie David, don’t worry, she’ll be everywhere soon.

At 23 years old, she is quickly gaining her own presence in the entertainment world. She is rooted in comedy, being the daughter of the creator of the iconic ’90s sitcom “Seinfeld,” Larry David.

Of course, she is so much more than that, with education from Emerson College and a passion for her own screenwriting. She also has a fabulous Instagram that gave her a following before any of her actual projects began.

Here are some facts about Cazzie and her work that will prove her imminent success as an artistic spokesperson of millennials.

Cazzie has a web series out called ‘Eighty-Sixed,’ referring to an old New York term of having been thrown out or gotten rid of. No name could be more fitting. Obviously the term refers to her character Remi’s current state of feeling tossed out after being dumped. However, it also pulls in New York culture to the Los Angeles scene, bringing in “Seinfeld” undertones of being hyper-aware, but not at all self-aware.

The series follows Remi, a typical millennial after a breakup. She tries to “win” the breakup, not understanding that actual winning entails happiness and growth from the dead relationship, not hovering around the breakup and hoping to get their ex’s attention by forcing the illusion of being better off. None of us are immune.

The story itself has a BuzzFeed Violet filming style. It makes short, digestible, funny and relatable videos for young people. But the humor is special. It cannot be recreated by an outsider, though so many try. It is the exact tone as her dad’s shows, “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” It’s not surprising, but her mastery of it is stunning.

It’s a powerful humor that highlights the selfishness everyone has inside of them. It makes everyone look bad, but in a really genuine and lovable way. It’s oblivious and confident narcissism with the security to vocalize and pursue every random thought.

I could tell she nailed it exactly in the first episode when the first thing Remi said is: “Could you just not sit on my bed in city pants?… I mean, have you sat anywhere since their last wash?… but like a public space, like people sit there all the time… I mean you can just sit here now, you already sat down.” It’s pure Jerry.

In the second episode, a casual friend comes up to Remi and her friends and confides in them that her mom has a tumor. What does Remi do? She licks her dripping ice cream cone then criticizes her own friends for not getting their ice cream in cones in solidarity with her own tragedy. Elaine would have done the same.

Remi goes to a party to take a photo of herself out of the house and having fun, but has to coerce strangers into posting the photo so it doesn’t look like she’s trying too hard. She’s the equally neurotic mirror of George.

They are little things that sting in a small way. The show displays everyday life without a filter of courtesy. It’s brilliant. It’s not absurd to expect a full sitcom or film from Cazzie one day.

Personal

Again, Cazzie David is the daughter of Larry David, the creator of “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Her mother is Laurie David, an environmental activist.

She is also dating “Saturday Night Live” cast member, Pete Davidson. He recently got sober for the first time in about eight years. He likes to thank to Cazzie’s positive influence and unyielding support. In various interviews, he praises her humor, intelligence and beauty. Overall, he grins and blushes over her, saying he’d love to marry her one day.
