If you love conspiracy theories, unexplainable occurrences and things that are just plain strange, Curious Events Day is the perfect holiday for you. The holiday is all about solving and understanding life’s mysteries.

From speculating why things disappear in the Bermuda Triangle to wondering why people open their mouth while putting on mascara, Curious Events Day requires an inquisitive, creative mind.

Curious Events Day is celebrated on Oct. 9 each year and continues to leave everyone baffled.

ENTITY wanted to join in the fun, so we compiled a list of five examples of life’s most inexplicable questions and occurrences. These will definitely leave you walking away scratching your head.

1 Why do you open your mouth when putting on mascara?

Very few women are able to avoid the natural inclination to open their mouth while applying mascara. Despite looking pretty silly, many also don’t understand why they do it.

This is one topic on the Curious Events Day list that actually has some solid reasoning behind it.

Opening your mouth while applying mascara helps avoid blinking while lengthening your lashes. In the same respect, it helps your eye muscles relax long enough for you to get the perfect application.

2 Cartoon conspiracy theories

These conspiracy theories will make you rethink your entire childhood. These creepy cartoon explanations involve everything from dead babies to our favorite characters representing different drugs.

First, conspiracy theorists speculate “Rugrats” is actually the story of Angelica’s psychosis and delusions. They believe Chucky, Tommy and the twins died and a traumatized Angelica created their personalities as a coping mechanism.

Supposedly, Chuckie and his mother died, leaving his father Chaz constantly anxious. Tommy was stillborn, which would explain why his father spends hours in the basement creating toys for a son who would never play with them. Lastly, they believe the twins were originally one aborted child, but Angelica couldn’t reconcile if it was a boy or girl, thus creating the idea of twins.

Wild, right?

But these crazy cartoon conspiracy theories don’t end with “Rugrats.”

Conspiracy theories surrounding “SpongeBob Squarepants” argue the characters are representations of different drugs. Allegedly, SpongeBob exemplifies Methamphetamine, Patrick is Marijuana, Squidward is Heroin, Mr. Krabs is Cocaine and Sandy is Alcohol.

Some of theories are less sinister, though. Theorists believe “Courage the Cowardly Dog” is really a show about what life is like from a dog’s perspective. His owners aren’t really ever in danger or oblivious to their surroundings. Rather, Courage perceives strangers and unfamiliar areas to be the show’s villains.

3 Strange food people risk eating

One of the scariest things on the Curious Events Day list is the risky behavior of eating the poisonous pufferfish. The delicacy is known as Fugu and it originates from Japan.

The fugu must be carefully handled and cooked to avoid exposure to poison. If it isn’t done properly, the person eating the fugu risks dying.

No, you read that right. People knowingly eat things they know can kill them.

In the 1980s, Fugu caused over 40 deaths per year. Today, chefs have a better handle on the dish and are required to get certified to cook it. Moreover, poisoning cases are less frequent, ranging between 35 to 60, with up to six deaths.

4 The Denver Airport conspiracy

You can’t have Curious Events Day without talking about the strange artwork in the Denver Airport. From a terrifying image of a Nazi soldier to children from various countries holding weapons of mass destruction, the murals are shocking, to say the least.

Airport representatives say the murals, which have since been removed, represented peace and anti-violence. However, we’re not totally convinced.

Aside from the creepy murals, other conspiracy theories surround the formation of the airport’s runways. From an aerial view, the runway pattern resembles a swastika. Airport spokespeople say the shape is more similar to that of a pinwheel and is intended to create efficiency and safety.

And if swastika-shaped runways weren’t bad enough, there’s also a 9,000 lb., 32-foot-tall blue Mustang with glowing red eyes to greet you when you fly in.

The horse actually killed its artist Luis Jimenez, when a piece broke off during the creation process and severed an artery in his leg.

However, the Denver Airport conspiracy doesn’t stop there. People also question why the airport project went $2 million over budget and what lies in the highly classified basement area underneath it.

The overall consensus among conspiracy theorists is that all of these curious occurrences translate to the New World Order. In fact, the dedication stone for the airport actually says New World Airport Commission and has a Free Mason symbol.

5 Cuttle fish are the most curious creatures in the ocean

Cuttle fish are about the closest you’ll get to seeing an alien on Earth. These strange creatures are masters of disguise.

While a cuttle fish’s life expectancy is only one to two years, the intelligent beings do a lot in their lifetime. This hyper-intelligent creature has a massive brain and three hearts, which pump blue blood. They can also change the color, shape and perceived texture of their body on command.

And when hunting, they can make their body rapidly blink to stun their prey. Small male cuttle fish also use their array of skills to impersonate females during the mating process so they can still pass on their genes without being stopped by larger males.
