So here we are, seven weeks after my ENTITY Academy Internship experience began. We’re in the final stretch. During these past seven weeks, I’ve learned and grown so much as a person. I am so excited to see where life takes me from here.

Imagine being in a room with 50 other people. My first thoughts were that I was going to be intimidated. To my surprise, it was the complete opposite. I feel so at home with these 50 people who were once strangers but I can now call friends. Yes, gained 50 friends from this entire program.

Aside from creating memories, I also learned three valuable skills from my Entity Mag experience

1 Networking & Maintaining Relationships.

I went into my ENTITY Academy Internship experience with many misconceptions about networking. I thought it was just a bunch of people who helped each other in their career. During this mentorship, we’ve been exposed to different speakers and have been able to speak to them one-on-one. It’s been great to learn the depth of what networking actually is: building an actual relationship with the people you meet, checking in every now and then, staying top of mind and following up.

2 The Importance of Communication.

Communication is key to everything. It not only shows people that you’re thinking about them. But, it’s also essential in getting across your needs, not only from your friends, but also any connection you have as well. Learning that you need to express what your expectations are before you can say someone let you down is very important. We all need to be aware of what’s keeping us down and not be afraid to speak up about it.

3 Be confident in your skills.

I came into this Academy wanting to improve as a writer. In the beginning, I was very insecure about telling anyone that I wanted to be a writer. I was insecure about where my passion lied. I knew writing was the one thing I was good at, and I wanted to continue to grow. With the many insecurities I had when it came to being a creative, it was hard for me to let go.

Through many conversations with my mentor, Silvana, I was able to talk to her writer-to-writer and express those insecurities. I learned that although she’s in a place that she’s proud of, she too had those same insecurities in the beginning. She gave me the confidence to continue working on what I love to do, to be great at it and to continue to learn.

Aside from the skills…

I have made incredible friendships throughout this program. For me, home isn’t a place, it’s the people. I believe I have found that with the people I have met through my ENTITY Academy Internship experience. It will definitely not be an easy “goodbye for now,” but every step through this entire program was worth it. Through the ups and the downs, we conquered the seven weeks, wrote our hearts out and became a family.

To my crew from Writer’s Block: Don’t you ever stop creating, being amazing and empowering one another. This is just the beginning for each and every single one of you. I am so glad I met you, and you each have a special place in my heart. I love you and I hope to reunite with you all soon.
