One Entity writer shares 3 ways the Entity Mentorship has challenged her

I have always believed in women – their potential, their capabilities and their strength. I also believe in the power of community, support and, most importantly, language.

So when I accepted the offer to write for a women’s magazine to empower other women, I was ready. I was ready to share my experiences, my insight and my hope for everyone looking to be understood, to fit in or to grow.

I, however, didn’t expect my experience writing for this magazine to challenge me in the ways that it did.

1 ENTITY CHALLENGES ME TO CONSTANTLY IMPROVE AND GROW

Working at a women’s magazine that seeks to use language to critique and inspire constantly surrounds me with knowledge that pushes me to grow in my personal and professional life.

Everyday, I research incredible women who push boundaries in their lives in order to encourage other women to do the same. In turn, my mind is constantly marinating in what it means to be both strong and feminine or what it means to challenge how other people have traditionally defined womanhood. Because of it, I push myself to live out the words that I write in all aspects of my life. I push myself to write “one more article” because I can, to stand up for myself because I should and to desire wisdom because women are capable.

2 ENTITY CHALLENGES ME TO LIVE TRUTHFULLY

When you work around so many intellectually beautiful and personable women, you are constantly inspired.

Working around people who have the same goals, desires and passions only pushes me to want to live out my passions. My coworkers have made it possible for me to have more open conversations about my beliefs. Because of them, I am always excited and encouraged to think critically and truthfully.

3 ENTITY CHALLENGES ME TO DREAM BIGGER

After my one-on-one sessions with Jennifer and Gabrielle, I was encouraged to pursue my passions and to develop my writing. Their help and critiques push me to write better and to never settle. As shining examples of #WomenThatDo, Jennifer and Gabrielle push me to pursue my passions wholeheartedly.

Overall, learning about other women and working with incredible people have challenged and continue to challenge me to be better everyday.
