Where did Bombas Socks come from?

In 2013, David Heath and Randy Goldberg founded Bombas socks when they heard that socks are the number one requested item in homeless shelters. Following Toms Shoes and Warby Parker’s one-for-one business model, Bombas donates one pair of socks for every pair you buy.

Bombas Socks started their campaign on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo and raised 950%  more of what they expected!

Nine months after their start-up, Sharktank’s Daymond John invested $200,000 in Bombas Socks, helping it become one of the most successful business from Sharktank.

What does their brand name mean?

“Bombas” is the latin word for bumblebee. The idea is that bees work together to make the hive a better place. Likewise, Bombas Socks wants to make the world a better place. Additionally, the company motto “bee better” is stitched into every sock.

Bombas Socks gives back to the community.

Conscious consumerism is at the heart of their campaign. For every pair of socks you buy, a pair is donated to the homeless. Bombas Socks partnered with the non-profit organization, Hannah’s Socks, that donates to those in need. Used socks are not acceptable as donations or even for resale. Companies like Bomba, who use anti-microbial treatment and reinforced seams, are keeping longevity in their product a priority.

Engineered to make your feet as comfortable and your socks sustainable.

Heath and Goldberg spent two years of research to develop the perfect socks. With the help of an industry expert, president of Gold Toe Socks, they engineered the comfiest sock.

First of all, Bombas uses Peruvian Pima cotton that is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The material is also able to wick away moisture naturally.

Several designs go into the sock’s wearability. The heel is designed with a y-stich that prevents it from falling into the shoe. In addition, stay up technology makes sure the sock stays on your calf with the perfect amount of tension. There’s also a blister tab for ankle socks that protect your heel from chafing.

Lastly, a honeycomb support system sits in the middle of each sock, distributing pressure evenly.

The company makes sure each pair is sewn by hand to specifically meet the needs and comfort requirements of all parts of your feet.

Socks With Style

Heath and Goldberg noticed that socks needed a major upgrade. So, they recruited one of GQ’s best designers in America to help design the perfect athletic and leisure sock.

Bombas offers socks for women, men, and children in a variety of colors and designs and styles. You can choose from ankle socks, calf socks, no show, knee highs, you name it.

There are socks for different athletic occasions.

If you’re an athlete or want to get serious about your fitness, then consider browsing through Bombas Socks. They have socks for hiking, running and even skiing and snowboarding. According to Greatist, the condition of your sock is actually vital to your performance.

Millions of Socks Donated

Thanks to a supportive Bombas community, the company has sold over 8 million pairs and donated over 8 million pairs. Bombas sits at the heart of conscious consumerism in the sock industry by providing you with quality socks and, in turn, helping the homeless.

Oh yeah, and  Zac Efron supports Bombas. You can see him wearing a pair in the video below. What more do you need?
