2 When it comes to her sexuality … she’s not into labels.

In 2016, Blanchard made headlines when she expressed on social media that she did not want to limit her sexuality.

“In my life – only ever liked boys. However, I personally don’t wanna label myself as straight, gay or whateva so I am not gonna give myself labels to stick with – just existing,” she wrote online.

She went on to say, “Yes, [I’m] open to liking any gender in [the] future, [which] is why I identify as queer.”

She received backlash to this post and even some homophobic comments.

Blanchard revealed that she was taken aback by the commentary, telling Wonderland, “I’m okay with it now, but I still realize that I was allowing people to comment on something that’s very personal. The first day I tweeted about it, it was definitely scary to see people commenting about things that literally have nothing to do with them.”

3 She wrote an essay on feminism.

Just because she’s young, it doesn’t mean she’s not socially aware. The now 15-year-old has written an impressive essay titled “Sorry Not Sorry” on Rookiemag.com.

In it she discussed how at times, women’s needs and feelings are put on the back burner to make room for the “superior” male, acknowledging how her womanhood sometimes negatively affects her experience in this world:

“I have treated, specifically, male feelings and ego as superior to and more fragile than my own. This practice dates back to elementary school, where it was first embedded in me and my female classmates, that our feelings, bodies, and minds would be used as weapons against us – mostly, but not exclusively – by our male peers.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rowan expressed gratitude for the attention that she received from the essay. She also said that she was glad to follow pop stars such as Miley Cyrus in the conversation.

4 You may have seen her in other roles, but you may not have known it at the time.

If you were watching “The Back-Up Plan” starring Jennifer Lopez, you may have gotten a glimpse of Blanchard. If you were watching “Spy Kids” with Jessica Alba you may have seen her, too.

Rowan Blanchard’s acting career has been in action since the tender age of five. She is also set to star next to heavy hitters like Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in the upcoming Disney movie “A Wrinkle In Time.”

5 Her cultural background is pretty diverse.

Rowan Blanchard was born in Los Angeles to Elizabeth and Mark Blanchard-Boulbol who are yoga instructors. And thanks to her parents, she has Lebanese, Moroccan, Armenian, Syrian, Swedish, Danish and English blood running through her veins. Now trying saying that quickly five times in a row.
