Entity reports on the PACE program and why it should fund energy efficient buildings.

We all want to save the few natural resources we have left in this world, but sometimes upgrading to eco-friendly gear is way out of our budget. No matter how stylish it is to wear Reformation’s sustainable clothing, not everyone can afford it. But if you want to get in on this trend, that’s where PACE comes in.

Property Assessed Clean Energy financing programs provide up-front funding for men and women who want to improve their properties (whether they be residential, commercial, or municipal) in the U.S. The loan is paid back over time through the property tax bill, which can take up to 20 years. Additionally, the loan is connected to the house, not the owners, so the loan would transfer to the new owners if the house is sold.

With this program, you can upgrade your lighting, insulation, heating, ventilation, solar,  thermal or water. To find out which improvements can be made to your property, you can visit the Center for Sustainable Energy website for some suggestions. You can also reach out to the PACE providers in your area for more information because each property is different.

It’s important to check if PACE programs are offered in your area of residence since providers are not available in all counties. You also need to meet certain terms to be eligible for a program. Some of these terms include being able to make on-time payments on mortgage and property taxes.

For the most part, PACE eliminates the primary deterrent to people not wanting to install renewable energy services on their properties.  It opens doors for people who want to make a difference but may feel trapped by the process.

It is programs like these that enable serious change in sustainability and offer a window to a greener future for the average consumer.
