Defeated Hillary Clinton had a special message for young women voters in her concession speech today.

“I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling but someday someone will – and hopefully sooner than we might think right now,” she said when conceding defeat to Donald Trump.

“And to all the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.”

Clinton added, “To the young people in particular, I hope you will hear this, I have spent my entire adult life fighting for what I believed in. I’ve had successes and I’ve had setbacks, sometimes really painful ones. Many of you are at the beginning of your professional, public and political careers. You will have successes and setbacks too … And so, we need you to keep up these fights now and for the rest of your lives.”

Despite her optimistic tone, she admitted the result was painful. Yet she vowed to accept the result and work with Trump while encouraging her supporters to move forward with her.

In his victory speech in the early hours of the morning, Donald Trump put their past differences aside and paid tribute to Hillary Clinton, saying, “She fought very hard. Hillary has worked very long and very hard over a long period of time, and we owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country. I mean that very sincerely.”
