Victoria, The Unrelenting Sage (INTP)

Introverted, Intuition, Thinking, Perceiving

Overview

Analytical, inspiring and profoundly intellectual, Victorias are known for being anything but commonplace. Never one to follow the crowd, you’re the type of girl to eschew commonly held beliefs in favor of discovering new ones. Victorias don’t just skim info, they absorb it like one of those late night infomercial Sham-wows. But you’re worth way more than two payments of $19.95, babes. You make up only 3 percent of the total population and are known for your groundbreaking ideas and inventiveness.

As The Unrelenting Sage, Victorias have ideas flowing a mile a minute and might be tinkering in a lab, robot parts strewn about. In fact, your mind runs so fast it can basically see all sides and outcomes of an argument without batting an eye, which makes you a ferocious debater (even if you're only debating yourself). Victorias aren’t just analytical, but also dreamers who take the road wayyy less traveled. While everyone else is hiking that trail with the snack bar at the end, you’re in the wilderness, testing plant life for your new natural skincare line.

Famous INTPs: Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Harper Lee, Tina Fey, MIA, Kristen Stewart, Ellen Page, and Meryl Streep (Yep, Meryl Streep -- you’re welcome!)

Strengths

Uncommon Victorias see the world as a giant puzzle just waiting to be solved. Your ability to dream beyond the possible is how we achieve great, new feats in academics, science, and architecture. Your ability to consider facts, evidence and logic over feeling, perception and emotions grants you freedom from ego and peer pressure. In other words, you're unlikely to just "follow along." As an introverted thinker, people may dismiss you as a calculating dreamer devoid of humanity, but that’s not true. You are always looking to better the world through your ideas. Without Victorias, we would literally all have died from the flu, in a tragic fire from hazardous material or in a space explosion without the proper space gear. Girl, we are so happy to have you around.

Common Strengths:  Quiet enthusiasm, Imaginative, Unique, Abstract Thinking, Analyst Extraordinaire, Straightforward, Open-Minded, Objective Thinking.

Weaknesses

A Victoria’s biggest weakness is the perception that she lacks emotional intelligence. While she gives great advice (hence the name "The Unrelenting Sage") a Victoria often doesn’t see the logical use of sensitivity or letting someone down gently. Victorias can also be so dedicated to their goals or ideas that they forget self-care, or the care for others around them.

It may seem difficult to break the rock-hard shell of a private, isolating Victoria, but know that she tends to warm up once you get to know her. And she's worth getting to know. Victoria's analytical mind is essential to the world and she often helps those around her with her objective analysis - which in turn make the sub-zero, icy Victoria quite a bit warmer than first appearances. Victoria’s friends, eager to pick her brain, are ready to gear up with their Canada Goose jackets, Fur boots and snowshoes in tow to fend off the cold. Brrrr!

Common Weaknesses: Absent-Minded, Withdrawn, Secretive, Condescending, Hate Guidelines and Rules, Rampant Self Doubt.

Romantic Relationships

“So what’s the deal here?” may be what Victorias say upfront if a date is needling around commitment or unsure if it’s a date or hookup. When she says she "hates playing games" she means it. However, partners of Victorias shouldn’t be too worried about their own status since logical Victoria wouldn't waste her time with someone she's not that into dating. After all she knows that if you’re not up to her standards, statistically, it’s more than likely she can score another hot date next week (trust she’s done the research and read the Sociological Journals on the probability rates of finding dates in her city) so she would have already kicked you to the curb. If you're still around, it's because *gasp* she likes you.

However, a Victoria’s independence and the perception that she lacks emotional needs can sometimes leave their partners feeling confused or lonely. It’s important for partners of Victorias to speak up because she’s definitely more compassionate than you’d believe. In fact, one of an INTP's biggest fears is not being loved or being considered "unloveable". Which is why a Victoria just needs to be nudged or reminded that TLC is part of some people’s needs, including her own. It's also important to create an environment in which a Vicotira feels safe enough to show that side of her. That being said, Victorias need a highly independent partner who is just as straightforward and blunt as they are (or at least appreciate her style of very direct communication).

Victorias love love love to share ideas, postulate on philosophy during a dinner date and are looking to share their excitable quest for discovery with their partners. Just don’t be surprised if you start talking about wanting to refurbish your granddad’s 1964 T-Bird sometime soon and Victorias show up the next morning at 5 am, toolkit in hand, ready to tinker! Doers 4 Doers only, please and thanks! Intuitive partners that have at least two opposite traits make an excellent match with Victorias, since her intense logic and dreamy analytical thoughts need balance.

Friendships

Girl, is your armor made of steel forged by Hercules? You are one tough cookie to break open. That’s okay, those who seek the friendship of a Victoria know who you are and accept you for your flaws and love you for your strengths. Your friends may not call you when Brad breaks up with them for Chloe, since your response might be “Okay, well now you can find someone new!” However, they WILL call you when they’re looking for advice on microbiology or someone to geek out over the amazing National Geographic piece on Mayan culture! Knowledge is power for forging friendships with Victorias, as well as curiosity and a fascination with looking beyond the horizon for answers. Curious cats only! Victorias don’t have time for frivolous small talk, but are here for pondering life's unanswered questions!

Friends of Victorias may wish you had more time for gossip, niceties and thoughtful gestures but overall Victorias are fiercely loyal. Friends will always know where they stand and that Victorias do not have the time for wishy-washy or ambivalent friendships. If you’re friends with a Victoria, you are probably friends for life! BFFs forever, or as a Victoria might say, “Well, with your family history of high blood pressure and Osteoporosis, maybe more precisely 50.2 more years.” That’s old friends for sure.

Career Path & Workplace Habits

As an INTP a Victoria’s number one pursuit in the workplace is that of completing projects and getting results. This is an amazing feat of determination and perseverance but doesn’t save a lot of room for emotional labor. Customer service positions or communications or human resources jobs are not advised since Victorias don’t feel their feels as much as other types. Despite a Victoria’s penchant for self-driven projects and independence, they work best with a trusted teammate who can wrangle in their mile-a-minute thought processes or ideas.

Victorias also need a second set of eyes to reassure them when they feel doubtful. Despite their data-over-emotions work ethic, Victorias have so much self-doubt. I mean, it’s the most logical thing to doubt yourself, truly none of us know what we’re doing, but the trick is to overcome that. Victorias overcome this work insecurity by relentlessly pursuing multiple outcomes to make sure their experiments or research amount to something substantial. Remember also that even if it doesn’t come out the way you planned, there is always another use for your discoveries or ideas.

Victorias can actually be quite amazing to work under as an employee because of their neverending journey towards discovery. They have a very open worldview that lets their employees experiment and discover. Plus they hate micro-managing and therefore won’t force it on others. Don’t let a Victoria down though. Given such freedom, they expect nothing less than the high standards they hold for themselves. It’s a very shoot for the moon and please land on the moon because we have a very busy week ahead (and you landing among the stars would actually be falling several light-years away, which is quite painful and sad so don’t - please stay in our galaxy and complete your tasks!)! Victorias do great in fields that require precise, logical, fact-driven attention to detail, but with an imaginative mind that leaves room for societal advancement and innovation.
