On the show “13 Reasons Why,” we were introduced to not only Hannah Baker, but also to the Australian beauty that is Katherine Langford.

While Katherine as Hannah won the love of “Clay Jensen,” the actress was also winning the love of her audiences. And if she doesn’t have your love, well, she’s about to.

Here are five reasons Katherine Langford is so awesome.

1 She is a Lady Gaga fan.

On “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Langford expressed that she was shocked to see that Lady Gaga actually knew who she was.

“I think she sort of knows who I am, which is a weird thing to say. I did this interview and they were like, ‘Who is your favorite artist?’ And I was like, ‘Lady Gaga.’ And a fan tweeted it at her and she reposted it and wrote Katherine with a love heart,” said Langford.

And after her fans found this out, Ellen DeGeneres did something very “Ellen.” Langford made an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” with co-star Dylan Minnette, and Ellen had one big surprise for her. Ellen gave her a backstage pass to a Lady Gaga concert!

2 She also loves Star Trek.

Jon Luc Picard would have been happy to know that Katherine Langford is a trekkie. In an interview with Marie Claire, Langford expressed that she loved all things sci-fi, especially “Star Trek.”

“I love “Star Trek: Voyager”! I’m rewatching the series right now. Favorite character: Captain Kathryn Janeway (played by Kate Mulgrew). My dad is a really keen fisherman, and when we got a boat, we named it Voyager and got T-shirts made with the Voyager logo. Whenever we go out, we wear those,” she said. “OK. I sound like a total nerd!”

She went to express her love for sci-fi by saying, “I love sci-fi and period pieces – it’s fantasy. I can let myself dream a little bit. But also, I just really love science. I love knowing about how the world works.”

3 Katherine Langford didn’t hesitate about showing Hannah Baker’s suicide.

Langford told Deadline she felt it was necessary to film the scene where audiences can see Hannah cutting her wrist in a bathtub. Furthermore, Katherine Langford wanted people to know how serious the issue was, even if it was hard to watch.

“I don’t think there was ever a moment where we didn’t want to show Hannah’s suicide because that wouldn’t have been staying true to the vision of the show,” she said. “I felt like it would have sugarcoated the severity of the issue. It’s not pretty; it’s not romanticized; it’s not a beautiful tragedy – it’s agonizing, and it’s physically painful to watch.”

4 There were therapy dogs on set on “13 Reasons Why.”

The intensity of episode 12 inspired production staff to provide therapy dogs.

“I think we had therapy dogs on set for episode 12, the scene between Hannah and Bryce in the hot tub, and that was kind of a result of an extensive conversation that we had in preparation for those heavy scenes,” Langford told Emanuel Levy. “I actually ended up not getting to see the dogs until we finished at night, but from what I heard they were beautiful.”

5 She handled the heavy material on “13 Reasons Why” by watching comedy.

To take a break from “13 Reasons Why,” Langford would look to a certain comedy sitcom to take her mind off of the material. “I watched a lot of ‘The Office,’ but I didn’t get to go home until we were well and truly done,” she said to E! News.

But laughter was not her only form of medicine. She also looked creating a home in her temporary apartment.

“For me, what kind of eased it was that when I got there we had to find locations to live and inhabit for the next six months,” she added. “The first thing that I put in my apartment was a piano. I bought one for $50 and it was a lifesaver because I just went home and played and played … I’m sure I annoyed everyone on the same floor.”

Overall, though, Langford is proud of the impact “13 Reasons Why” has had on the public. “I love the opportunity to affect change in people’s lives,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

And we thank you, Katherine, for committing to such an important role. Here’s to your future endeavors!
