Laura Marano is not just known as the little sister of actress Vanessa Marano anymore. She’s now making a name for herself outside of her sister’s shadow.

Early in her career, she was featured on Disney Channel shows like “Austin and Ally.” And, she’s made a couple of appearances on other shows too, such as “Girl Meets World.”

1 Laura Marano overcame her insecurities on “Austin and Ally.”

When asked if she had an emotional moment with her character on the show, Marano told JustJaredJr that playing the role of “Ally” really helped her gain self-confidence.

“I definitely was insecure about myself musically. I love music and I loved writing songs … but I was so insecure of it,” she said. “I was so embarrassed and insecure to actually play [piano] or sing anything because I didn’t want to be judged.”

But then, when her character came out and broke out of her stage fright to sing a duet with Austin, it felt powerful for her. “That was a really great moment for me,” she added.

Thanks to this, Marano now shares her music with her fans online.

2 Despite what people think, she never dated Ross Lynch.

The chemistry is real between Austin and Ally on the show, but it doesn’t go beyond the set. On a podcast for Hollywood Life, Marano assures everyone that the chemistry stays solely on the show.

“I think it’s a very much because we are very professional. I know for me – I’ve been acting since I was five – I’ve always been taught that you really should never date a costar while you’re working with someone,” Marano explained. “Because then you can get together then not get together. Can you imagine?”

Marano also told Hollywood Life on a podcast that the cast made a pact not to date any costars on the show. So that’s even more of a reason not to be with Lynch.

3 She’s been involved in the theater since she was five years old.

Marano started her acting career with numerous plays at the Agoura Children’s Theatre. Marano says that ever since she was little, the theater has been her home.

“I actually grew up in my mom’s theater since I was a baby. It was literally my home away from home. After my very persistent sister begged my mom for two years to be an actress, my mom finally agreed to bring us to an agent (well, my sister to an agent – I tagged along because I was five),” she shared with Cliche Magazine.

Marano also went on to act in many commercials, including one for Burger King.

4 She’s held her own next to some Oscar winners.

Her first big break was in “Austin and Ally,” but Marano has costarred next to some pretty big Hollywood names. In 2005, she starred next to Oscar winner Adrien Brody in “The Jacket.” Marano played a younger version of Kiera Knightly’s character.

She also revealed to Female First that starring next to Oscar nominees and winners taught her a lot about the acting game.

“Working on ‘The Jacket’ with Adrian Brody, Keira Knightly and Daniel Craig as well a whole bunch of other really good people on that set, you really learn a lot,” said Marano.

She’s also had roles on other series, such as “Heroes,” “Without A Trace” and “Dexter.”

5 Laura Marano adores her fans.
