Where is your favorite iCarly star today?
Whether you were Miranda Cosgrove’s biggest fan or hardly watched Nickelodeon, it’s impossible to deny that Miranda Cosgrove movies and TV shows left a mark on her viewers. Her show iCarly explored important topics like growing up, teenage romance and web stars. Michelle Obama even guest-starred before the show ended in 2012.
Who is Miranda Cosgrove now and what has she been up to? Here are five facts you should know!
One of Cosgrove’s more recent TV gigs was starring in “Crowded,” an NBC comedy. The series explored what happens when parents are finally planning to enjoy their wild side as empty nesters. The problem? Their two daughters unexpectedly move back home. Cosgrove worked alongside other big names like Patrick Warburton, Mia Serafino, Carrie Preston and Stacy Keach. After one season, though, the show was canceled.
Of course, the show wasn’t a total loss. Miranda Cosgrove did get to work with Betty White, after all!
Miranda Cosgrove has also spent the last five years exploring different kinds of roles. One of those roles was in the 2015 horror flick “The Intruders” with Austin Butler. The basic plot? Cosgrove’s character and her father move into a creepy house where the previous tenant went missing. You can probably fill in the blanks from there!
According to Cosgrove, she couldn’t turn down the chance to star in a scary movie. “My mom and I have watched scary movies ever since I was little. I watched The Exorcist, and I remember I couldn’t sleep,” she told Teen Vogue. “So I thought it was fun to be a part of something like that.”
If you’ve recently been craving more Miranda Cosgrove movies and TV shows, you’re in luck. Fans learned in March of 2017 that Cosgrove will have a steady role in NBC’s new comedy, “Spaced Out.” The show centers on scientists trying to build a rocket to Mars. Who will Cosgrove play? “Casey,” a smart software engineer who is eager to help the team send humans to Mars.
Will this comedy – and Cosgrove’s role – last longer than one season? Viewers will just have to wait, watch the TV show and see what happens!
Even though you may not have seen Cosgrove in a lot of recent movies, you’ve probably heard her. She has given “Margo Gru” her voice in “Despicable Me” 1 and 2, and Cosgrove is returning again for the third movie. (Who knew your favorite nerdy pre-teen was voiced by Miranda Cosgrove, age 23?).
Cosgrove also got to reunite with her old “Drake and Josh” co-stars for the 2015 animated movie “A Mouse Tale.” Cosgrove played Samantha, a mouse sent on a mission to get a magical crystal to free her kingdom from evil rodents. Her costar? Drake Bell.
Although much of Cosgrove’s life is anything but ordinary, she does do some activities you can probably relate to. First of all, she enrolled at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts in 2012. According to her, “The weirdest part is after a day at school, I’ll go on Instagram or the Internet and there will be pictures of me from school that random people took and I didn’t know they took,” she told ABC News. However, she still thinks “college really does help you grow up and figure out who you are. So, it’s just helped me grow as a person, like even just getting to classes on time and figuring out where classes are.”
When she’s not at school or shooting a movie or new TV show, you may spot Cosgrove hanging out with her old iCarly castmates. doing everything from walking the red carpet to exploring Tokyo Disney! It seems that not even a canceled series could rip Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy apart.
Miranda Cosgrove now is definitely just as awesome as the Miranda Cosgrove we met in iCarly. The main difference? As Miranda Cosgrove aged, she’s explored different kinds of TV shows and movies while embracing “normal” aspects of life like college. All we know for sure is that we can’t wait to see what Miranda Cosgrove is up to next!
