Both victor and vanquished have said it’s important to come together, but women across the nation don’t seem ready yet.

Hillary Clinton’s shocking loss Tuesday night hit hard with many women across America and the devastation over her defeat was palpable as tears were shed nationwide.

And on the morning after, the hashtag #ImStillWithHer became the new rallying cry for the women (and men) who made Clinton their champion.

From outrage to disappointment, citizens are expressing it all across social media.

Others, however, are confused by or afraid of  the reality of a Trump administration. “I think we’re in shock,” Amanda Vinci, 27, told The New York Post. “We didn’t expect this to happen at all. We were expecting that we were going to be celebrating that we were going to see history being made and would be just a joyful event.”

But instead of feeling the joy, Vinci admits to feeling scared. “We feel like women, gay men, minorities, people with disabilities, we’re not being heard that we don’t really matter to the majority of the country,” she added.

However, even amidst these emotions, other women are also trying to move forward and listen to Hillary Clinton’s message to “never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth.”

So even through the disappointment, messages of love, compassion and hope still exist. As frustrated as much of the nation may be Wednesday morning, women also seem to be looking towards the high road.

As Hillary Clinton said in her speech to her supporters, “We need you to keep up these fights now and for the rest of your lives.”
