ENTITY helps describe what natural deodorant is all about.

When you think about natural deodorant, the image of a person rubbing leaves on their body may come to mind. The imagination kicks in further to make you think that someone who uses natural deodorant  will end up smelling like a forest dweller. Does natural deodorant actually work? What is natural deodorant?

What’s Wrong With Normal Deodorant?

One would never think a basic necessity like deodorant could be potentially harmful. After all, deodorant is a toiletry that hopefully everyone uses on a daily basis. However, both healthy and unhealthy deodorants exist.

Basically, the breakdown of this issue is that most antiperspirants and deodorants contain an element called aluminum. This ingredient is what causes the body not to sweat. Aluminum is an sketchy ingredient that clogs pores, and more importantly belongs in soda cans, not under arms.  According to WebMD,  when the pores become blocked, the body is not able to get rid of all the icky stuff. WebMD also states that there are various other ingredients that are toxic to the the body, but does not specify them.

One of the major fears that natural deodorant supporters have is breast cancer. WebMD explains that in most cases breast cancer is found in the armpit and outer region of the breast.  This is the exact area you apply deodorant to; thus, aluminum leaches into the skin. The aluminum may potentially be responsible for the cancer. WebMD explains that these chemicals, “interact with DNA and lead to cancerous changes in cells, or interfere with the action of the female hormone estrogen which is known to influence the growth of breast cancer cells.”

Scary stuff, right? Who knew that something as simple as deodorant could cause such anxiety. The good news is that WebMD reports the lack of evidence  between the linkage of fatal diseases and aluminum-filled deodorant.

What Are Some Natural Deodorant Options?

When it comes to personal care, it may be better to be safe than sorry.

There are a myriad of options for consideration if you choose to make the switch to natural deodorant. We live in a so-called golden age of health products. With  an increasing number of people striving for healthier lifestyles, there is also an increasing number of natural products being put out there. So, take heart; not all hope is lost. You will not walk around with awkward pit stains on your favorite shirt.

Brands to Buy

There are easily a hundred types of natural deodorants on the market today. Each one varies in price points, scents and form. There are also multiple deodorant DIYs consisting of ingredients like baking soda and essential oils.

Oftentimes it is thought that natural products do not work that well, or that they will just be utterly weird in some way. However, now the opposite is true. Most natural deodorants work the exact same way as their competitors. The application is as simple as rolling it on one pit at a time.
