Because Tom is our work spirit animal, duh.
If you’re anything like the rest of the Earth’s population, then you hate Mondays. They’re the devil that ruins the weekend, the evil that tortures you and they are just the WORST to get through.
Luckily, we have television and comedy to help get us through. We love the hit show “Parks and Recreation.” It’s full of quirky characters who make us laugh, but also give us extremely inspirational life advice.
So if you love “Parks and Recreation” just like we do, or just need some funny quotes to get through your Monday morning, then check out this article.
Personally, this is one of my favorite episodes. Every year, Tom and Donna have a day where they treat themselves to whatever they desire.
I think we all should have a day like this. And we can’t forget just how catchy the, “treat yourself” theme song is.
“We have to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles and work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn’t matter, but work is third.”
Leslie has her priorities straight with this one — friends and good food should always come before your work. So when you’re feeling down on a Monday in the office, make some plans with some friends or go buy yourself a nice lunch.
Better yet, make some plans with friends to get a nice lunch. You’ll be living life the Leslie Knope way.
Tom, ever the entrepreneur. He knows that even a little work goes a long way. You want to really enjoy your weekend? Well, put in the work so you can afford that ritzy dinner or ball out at the club.
Jean Ralphio is famous for being crazy and depending on his dad, Dr. Saperstine. Jean Ralphio really does not know how to adult on his own, so basically he’s all of us. This quote from him is literally all of us trying to do anything even remotely responsible in life.
Quirky, funny and sometimes downright dumb — he’s Garry. Or maybe Jerry, sometimes even Larry. The ongoing joke on “Parks and Rec.” is that they can never get Garry’s name right. And finally, after 30 years, they seemed to get it right — but only for an episode. At least we don’t have to deal with being called the wrong name at work for 30 years.
“What I hear when I’m being yelled at is people loudly caring at me.”
Leslie likes to take the glass half-full approach to things in life. In this quote, she’s giving us motivation for when you come into work and your boss yells at you right off the bat.
He’s just really loudly caring about you and wants you to be your best self so you can excel in your career, obviously. So really you should be thanking him.
Ron is notorious for hating almost everything. One thing he doesn’t hate, however, is food. Especially his meat. Ron represents all of us when we’re out to dinner.
We debate taking on that second portion or third steak, but we wind up doing it after all. Because why not, you only live once, am I right or am I right?
One of Ron’s biggest pet peeves is dealing with people. He wants nothing to do with anyone else’s problems or business besides his own. I relate to this on a spiritual level. The less I know, the better off I am.
One of the great things about Chris is that he always tries to look at the bright side, no matter what. He’s like the little puppy who loves you, no matter what you do or how bad of a day you had.
We all want a Chris in our office. But since we probably don’t have one, we can enjoy him on the show as many times as we please.
Leslie is pretty much all of us after a night out. You feel like you have lived 12,000 lives and cannot remember a time you have felt so low (or maybe you do and just don’t want to think about it).
Leslie teaches us a valuable lesson with one of her all-time favorite holidays — Galentine’s day. Similar to Valentines day, Galentine’s celebrates your lady loves and the friendships that you have made. This is a super important holiday, because friendships deserve love, too. And if you want more insight into what Galentine’s day is, then check out this ENTITY article.
At the end of the day, you just have to buckle down and get through Monday. If you think about it, it brings you one day closer to the weekend. And if your Monday is totally hellish, we hope these “Parks and Recreation” quotes brought you some sort of joy.
If you want other shows that will give you inspiration to get through the workday, or just need some ideas for new shows to binge, then check out this article on TV shows that ended at just the right time.
