ENTITY shares the ugliest Christmas sweaters.Maya Moore/Twitter @mayamorena_

Maya Moore had no idea what she was getting herself into when she took to Twitter to lament losing an office Christmas sweater contest.

She posted a snap of herself cheesing in the festive sweater, which looked to be made out of green garland, and finished with a coordinating, tree topper hat. “Let me tell y’all how I’m never participating in another work contest. 4 hours to make this sweater 4 HOURS !” Moore gushed on Twitter, alongside the photo.

Twitter quickly rallied behind the eye-catching top, with Moore’s post garnering over 29k retweets and more than 79k likes. They even began turning the tweet into a meme.

Moore admitted that she was dumbfounded when her look went viral, noting she had only posted it to “get a few laughs from the friends I know following me.”

The analyst also shared that she was actually a bit “nervous” after the tweet began blowing up, as she didn’t want anyone to think her joke had been done in bad spirits. “I was not angry at all at coming in second place. I just thought the pic, caption, and emphasis on doing the most and only coming in second would be really funny,” Moore told ENTITY.

So who claimed the coveted title? “My co-coworker won with a really cool, very ugly ‘I sleigh’ sweater,” Moore revealed. But hey, it wasn’t all for naught. She did take home $20 for coming in second.

And she later took to Twitter to clarify her hilarious comment, sharing, “I’m totally jk I’m not a sore loser I did come to win clearly but it was all fun w/my coworkers I love it here.” Her co-workers weren’t the only ones who got a kick out of her look, though.

Twitter ran with the hilarious image, creating memes such as, “When bae says he’s helping a girl at work & you gotta camouflage & see if he’s lying.”

Moore later started a hashtag for the memorable sweater, posting, “#justicefortreegirl.”

In the end, Moore may not have won the contest at work, but she became a hot topic all over Twitter. Who’s the real winner?
