Most of us remember being little kids and loathing the fact that we had to eat our veggies. We didn’t care if our parents said vegetables were “healthy,” it wasn’t the least bit appetizing. In fact, it seemed like we were getting punished every time mom or dad put spinach down on our plate. However, now that you’re a woman, you probably understand that vegetables should be an important part of your lifestyle.

Unfortunately, however, even if you enjoy veggies as a grown-up, it can be difficult to get creative with them.

Have no fear! Here are some tips to help you sneak more veggies into your diet.

1 EAT THEM FOR BREAKFAST.

If you are a breakfast fanatic, here’s a newsflash: veggies are not just for lunch and dinner! You can experiment with yummy scrambles and omelets – put some sautéed veggies on top of your oats, make carrot or sweet potato hash, and even substitute avocado for a banana in your smoothie. Veggies can be a great addition to diversify some of your favorite breakfast foods!

2 DRINK YOUR VEGGIES.

If you love trendy juices, smoothies or shakes, veggies can easily be added to your favorite mixtures. Some veggies with a more subtle flavor include spinach, avocado, parsley or even lettuce. They are perfect for smoothies and you’ll hardly taste them at all.

3 NOODLE THEM.

I know what you’re thinking: no matter how beautiful it looks, veggies can’t taste like noodles. Well, you’re right, but noodled veggies are a great alternative for anyone who’s watching their pasta intake or just wants to get more veggies into their life. Spaghetti squash, julienned carrots, sliced zucchinis, kelp noodles – they all make for delicious alternatives to pasta, and adding a little tomato sauce and mozzarella, pesto, or stir frying them Asian-style are great ways to make them flavorful.

4 TURN THEM INTO APPETIZERS.

Using spices or cheese or cooking your veggies a certain way can transform them into festive, delicious appetizers. Making little boats with marinara sauce and cheese is a great way to eat zucchini, roasted tomatoes, brussels sprouts or carrots with a little garlic makes a delightful treat, and grilling romaine lettuce will change the way you look at lettuce forever. Try it with a little parmesan and some lemon. Thank us later.

5 PUT THEM INTO THE “NAUGHTY STUFF.”

Giving in to a pizza or some mac and cheese doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice nutritional value. Try adding some veggies on top of your pizza pie or sneaking some healthy spinach, tomatoes, or herbs into your mac and cheese. You can do this with practically any dish that normally gets a bad rep – even desserts! You can make avocado pudding with a simple avocado and chocolate adjusted to your taste.

The sky’s the limit with what you can do with veggies in your everyday routine. Experiment with different ways you can add veggies into some of your favorite cuisine, then sit back and enjoy all the health benefits of those scrumptious veggies.
