Want more friends? There’s an app for that.

After graduating college, it pretty much gets harder to make friends the same way you did while in school. In fact, research conducted by the Mental Health Foundation suggests that 18 to 34 year olds are more likely to feel lonely more often than those who are 55 or older.

To counter this, sometimes you just need help finding friends. Dating apps like Tinder and Bumble are great for sparking romances, but friend-apps like VINA, Wiith and BumbleBFF are on the rise.

So are you looking for friends? Here are five of ENTITY’s favorite apps to make friends.

1 Bumble BFF

Bumble BFF is a subset of the dating app Bumble, which has been dubbed as the “feminist Tinder.” All you need to do is go to settings and launch the BFF feature where, as the app says, “you officially enter the Friend Zone.”

For the most part, it works just like Tinder. You swipe right if you like how someone looks and left if you don’t. Many users have agreed that the act of judging a potential friend based on how they look was bizarre. But once you got past that, it can get pretty fun to match with a friend and start chatting.

And similar to Bumble and Tinder, you can specify your preferred distance and age range. So, you don’t have to worry about matching with someone you may never get to hang out with in person.

2 Hey! Vina

Unlike Bumble BFF, Hey! Vina is strictly for meeting friends. And it’s only open to women. So if you’re looking to grow your female circle, this app is just for you.

You start off by taking a profile quiz that asks questions about things you like to do. Do you like to meet up for coffee, wine or both? Do you have any guilty pleasures? Can you describe yourself in five emojis?

3 Wiith

This is another Tinder-like app, but without the stress of going on a first date. This app aims to connect nearby people who share similar interests and want to meet for local activities and events.

So because this app is so location-driven, its features will vary depending on where you live.

And since the meet ups are paired with local events, Wiith is a great app for people who just moved to an area or are visiting a new city. Also a plus? You can forgo the awkward swipe left-swipe right part of other friendship apps.

4 Skout

Skout is one of the oldest social apps. The best part about it is that it doesn’t limit you to people around you; there’s a feature that allows you to search for friends across the world.

Because of how long it’s been around, Skout has a huge platform of users to connect with and you can even login with your Google or Facebook account.

In the app, you can chat, make gifts, share pictures and more.

5 Badoo

Badoo is similar to Bumble in that it’s both a friendship and dating app. The platform prides itself on being one of the biggest and safest network of new faces, used by over 340 million people worldwide.

In the app, you can discover people near you, swipe to match with new people in the Encounters section and even find out who you’ve bumped into in real life. And if you want to mitigate the in-person awkwardness, you can video chat your n ew friend before meeting.

Just remember, however, that not every conversation is going to be a winner. Sometimes you may just end up with a nice e-friend who gives you compliments every now and then.

Don’t expect every match to be your next BFF, but you can at least expect to grow your social circle by a good amount.
