This home remedy has got to go.
Ever heard someone claim that “putting toothpaste on pimples helps get rid of them overnight?” Well, we’re here to tell you that is not safe.
Toothpaste has long been a popular home remedy, but acne experts say don’t do it. Putting toothpaste on your face overnight can actually be quite harmful to your skin in the long run.
According to the Huffington Post, while toothpaste can dry out a pimple, it is not recommended for the treatment of acne due to the likelihood of side effects including irritation, peeling and redness.
For some, using this home remedy seemed to work. But be wary of these claims! Others have taken to Twitter to share their experiences.
Great advice, Dana. I wish my 15-year old self had you as a friend to warn me of the consequences of trying this home remedy.
Pics or it didn’t happen. No really, that had to be very painful and scarring. Sounds like she had a pretty bad reaction to the toothpaste!

Look, we know breakouts can be embarrassing and inconvenient. However, the potential consequences that result from putting toothpaste on pimples can seriously prevent you from keeping your skin healthy.
Instead of settling for a supposed “quick fix,” try to create a daily skincare routine which will help you manage your breakouts.
Bottom line? You can use toothpaste to maintain healthy teeth, but you shouldn’t trust it to effectively get rid of your pimples.
