Entity lists 5 facts about who made the google logovia KedarDesigns

Who made the Google logo? A woman, of course. Who else would’ve been able to come up with such a versatile symbol for such a booming company?

The innovative Ruth Kedar created this iconic symbol, and trust us when we say that her thought process was a lot more complex than meets the eye.

Although Google changed their logo on September 1, 2015, the infamous multicolored symbol reigned supreme from May 31, 1999 to September 1, 2015. Google made its notable rise to the top with that logo. They also created their dynamic Google doodle game with it as a scaffold.

That being said no matter how much it changes, the Google logo and thereby Ruth Kedar, will forever be ingrained in our hearts.

Here are five things about the woman who made the Google logo.

Kedar moved to Israel as a child, where she grew up. Because of this, she’s primarily identified as Israeli instead of Brazilian. However, as the concept of intersectionality explains, both places are still a part of her identity.

3 Her First Love Was Architecture.

Israel favored the study of Architecture in their society. This aspect is most likely what spurred Kedar’s love for designing and constructing buildings. The prominent style of architecture was called “Eclectic Romanticism.” This style that incorporates many different elements to create a more dynamic and interesting design. Similar to the Google design Kedar created.

She actually wanted to delve deeper into this sector of design after she graduated with her Master’s in Design from Standford. However, everyone told her that her Masters in design and her Bachelor’s in Architecture from Israel Institute of Architecture made her overqualified for the job.

4 Her Thesis Was About Designing a Deck of Cards.

Yes, you read that right. The amazing Kedar focused on playing cards for her thesis at Stanford. She explains in her interview with Yuval Saar of Haaretz Israel News that she enjoyed the design of playing cards because of their longevity and dynamism. Adults who play poker and children who play Go-Fish equally utilize the deck of cards for their separate pleasures.

Similarly, the dynamism in Kedar’s Google logo was a starting point for the Google logo today and the Google doodle game we see on the Google homepage. The logo was simple yet complex enough to spark multiple uses.

5 She’s an Entrepreneur.

It will forever represent the simplicity and enjoyment associated with the search engine that changed the way we find information.
