Entity discusses throwback movies

Is it just us, or are the best days of television behind us? Whether we like it or not, the majority of our favorite go-to movies came out over a decade ago.

Lately, it seems impossible to find a fun movie to watch, especially when basically everything is a sequel or remake. But fear not: we’re here to pair each zodiac sign with the perfect throwback movie for the next time you can’t decide on what to watch.

If these throwback movies don’t make you nostalgic for your youth, we don’t know what will.

Aries (March 21-April 19): National Treasure (2004)

Oh, Nicholas Cage. You either really love him or really hate him. But whatever your opinions about him may be, this movie will always hold a special place in your heart. As an Aries, you tend to be spontaneous. You love seeking adventure, so why not do that from the comfort of your own home? Out of all the throwback movies, this one makes you feel involved in the most perfectly executed heist of all time.

Plus, Nicholas Cage’s constantly uneasy expression is an added bonus.

Taurus (April 20-May 20): Legally Blonde (2001)

As a typical Taurus, you love anything beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. Therefore, “Legally Blonde” is the perfect movie for you. You’ll get to relive the exciting life of quick-witted Elle Woods and her entry into the world of Harvard Law. Elle Woods has been, and will always be, an inspiration to young girls everywhere.

This classic is a feel-good movie, and it will provide you with some classic comic relief.

Gemini (May 21-June 20): Freaky Friday (2003)

This movie hits two birds with one stone: Lindsay Lohan before she went crazy and a high school Chad Michael Murray. As a Gemini, you have a witty personality and love to have fun. What better movie is there that combines these two? You’ve always been a dreamer, so this slightly science fiction-y movie is perfect for you.

It’s also a great mother-daughter film to watch if you’re looking for some extra bonding.

Cancer (June 21-July 22): 13 Going On 30 (2004)

A timeless and time-defying classic. As a Cancer, you’ve always had a sentimental side to you. You love tear jerker movies, because what’s better than reminiscing about your youth? This movie definitely brings back memories and early dreams of being thirty, flirty, and thriving. Besides, watching Jennifer Garner act like a thirteen-year-old is always hilarious.

So grab the girls, open a bottle of wine (and snacks, of course), and toss this movie on.  The best part? That’s right, it’s on Netflix.

Leo (July 23-August 22): Snow Dogs (2002)

Get ready to laugh, Leo! This hilarious classic stars former “American Horror Story” star Cuba Gooding Jr. But of course, you already knew that. As a fun-loving Leo, you love to get the party started and have a good time with your closest friends. So turn on this throwback and see how much of it you actually remember from your childhood. Our favorite scene was the dogsled race, but that’s just us.

This movie will leave all your friends talking about your impeccable taste in film (which you’ll love, being the center-of-attention Leo).

Virgo (August 23-September 22): The Princess Diaries (2001)

Get ready to turn back time! Anne Hathaway was only nineteen when this movie came out. Nineteen! Crazy. To this day, our favorite role of hers is her majesty Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi. Virgos are incredibly empathetic, so you’ll love joining Mia’s emotional journey from bring a high school nerd to becoming the princess of Genovia.

To be honest, we’re still not sure which one is harder. We’ve all dreamed that our long-lost grandmother would one day tell us we are princesses, but alas, that event has not transpired (yet). But we’re still able to live vicariously through teenage Anne and revive our childhood dream.

Although we still don’t quite understand why Michael put M&Ms on his keyboard before playing.

Libra (September 23-October 22): Cheaper by the Dozen (2003)

Out of all the throwback movies we’ve watched, this one has never let us down. As a kind and gentle Libra, your taste in throwback movies always airs on the side of family-friendly. You much prefer funny, feel-good movies to drama or (*gasp*) horror. So sit back, press play, and (with a big bowl of popcorn on your lap), escape into the world of having twelve rambunctious children.

Also, who doesn’t love Hilary Duff as a bratty teenager?

Scorpio (October 23-November 21): School of Rock (2003)

You’re a strong-willed Scorpio. You hate when people tell you what to do and how to act. You’re your own person, and you want everyone to know what you have to offer. This basically to how Jack Black, or Mr. S,  felt in this movie. He loved music, so he taught music. He didn’t care what anyone thought, and neither do you.

So channel your inner Jack Black and add this to your watchlist ASAP.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21): Bend It Like Beckham (2002)

As a Sagittarius, you’re super energetic and love to try new things. You have a heart for adventure, and you won’t let anything get in the way of your dreams. This movie is perfect to revive your inner girl power and get inspired for your next big thing. What will it be? And who knows? You might just become an olympic athlete, famous artist, or an Instagram star if you put your mind to it.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19): How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)

Okay, first off, Kate Hudson really rocked that yellow dress. Much like her character in this movie, Capricorns are super determined to accomplish their goals (especially when those goals involve early 2000s Matthew McConaughey).  This movie is the perfect combination of comedy, romance, and wit…so the three things you know best!

Also, the hilariously unrealistic plot line never really gets old. Who doesn’t love a bunch of deception that ends in love and mutual understanding?

Aquarius (January 20-February 18): Smart House (1999)

Before there was Siri, Alexa, and everything else we know today, there was only Smart House. And when this movie came out in 1999 (*gasp* that was a long time ago), we all couldn’t help but wonder; is this what the future will be like? As an Aquarius, you’re very imaginative and curious, which makes this the perfect movie for you. Out of all these throwback movies, you’ll definitely enjoy rewatching this somewhat horrifying family movie.

Because who needs a real mother when your talking house can do just that, right? Not so much. But still, this movie makes for a fun trip down memory lane.

Pisces (February 19-March 20): A Cinderella Story (2004)

Despite the fact that it’s nearly impossible that Austin Ames didn’t recognize Sam when her only disguise was a tiny eye patch, we still love this spin-off of a classic princess movie. Pisces love feeling connected to others, and this movie definitely lets you into the emotional side of Hilary Duff‘s fight against her evil stepmother (not to mention her mega crush on Chad Michael Murray). Princetongirl818 is definitely still an inspiration to us, and hopefully to you as well! Just remember, never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.

Now you’ll never fall short on having a handful of amazing throwback movies to add to your watch list. We hope we inspired you for your next cozy movie night. But if not, we hope you at least feel a little bit nostalgic for the days of underwhelming special effects and classic taglines.
