During a time science is being attacked by politicians, the Todd Sampson TV show, “Outrageous Acts of Danger,” brings the interesting and fun part of science to the forefront.

Someone had to have tested out the first car, zipped around in the first Flyboard or climbed the first 20,000+ foot mountain with strings and gloves. Sampson shows us this process.

The Outrageous Acts

Would you trust your life to paper calculations?

Well, that’s exactly what every episode challenges Todd Sampson to do.

This man climbed a huge glass building with a rope and vacuum cleaner. The episode before that, he floated in front of an AK-47 while (probably) praying that the resistance would stop the bullets from tearing through his body. That’s some crazy, dare-devil type shit.

Many people wouldn’t even try inside sky-diving in the event the air randomly stopped and they flopped 15 feet to the ground. Who could blame them? Life is unpredictable enough as it is; we don’t need to seek out ways to test death.

Nevertheless, Sampson hinges his life on the belief that science isn’t going to let him down.

And despite what it may seem, you don’t have to be a science major to like this. In actuality, you don’t even have to like science in general.  It’s thrilling to see all of the information come together before he bets his life on the calculations. It’s “Fear Factor” on steroids – or science.

The Show’s Wider Scope

Many view science as cold and imperfect. And the reality is, sometimes science is imperfect. When you’ve got a subject that’s never been studied, science is all about trial and error. Testing.

But, this subject is far from cold. In fact, the stakes placed on every calculation amps up the show’s tension. Sampson has a confidence that’s unheard of when he starts a new challenge, and the way your own body feels as your heart races is far from cold.

If you’ve ever seen an episode, you’ll know what we mean when we say this Todd Sampson TV show not only gives us an adrenaline rush by living vicariously through Sampson, it also shows a different side of science that many don’t see or understand.

It’s imperfect, interesting and, more importantly, crazy fun!
