Jennifer Jo Cobb is showing everyone that women belong in NASCAR.

For anyone who thinks only men like NASCAR, then you clearly don’t know about the women in NASCAR or the women shaping its future. In fact, with 37 percent of female fans, NASCAR actually wins the highest share of female fans in the sports industry.

But for the 63 percent of you who may not know much about NASCAR, learning about Jennifer Jo Cobb’s career is a great place to start.

So who is Jennifer Jo Cobb, exactly? Here are five things you need to know about this all-around inspirational woman.

Her dream of being in a race car started when she was just eight years old. Since then, she’s continued to climb the ranks of auto racing by accomplishing several historical feats in NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series.

In 2010, she was the highest finishing female driver in overall points for a season. Then the following year, she achieved the highest finish by a female driver in the series – 6th place. A year after that, in 2012, she accomplished the most starts by a female driver in the series with over 50 starts. And currently, she holds the highest place finish in a race event by a woman in any NASCAR series.

2 And to top that off? She’s the only female team owner and driver in NASCAR.

Cobb explained to ENTITY that she wanted to stop taking directions from other small team owners who expected her to “start and park.” She decided instead to take control of her racing career.

Thus, she founded Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing, a team that competes in the NASCAR World Camping Truck Series with the No. 10 truck.

“By owning my team, I can somewhat create my own destiny,” said Cobb. “Instead of handing my sponsor’s money over to other small teams and not knowing how it was being spent, I decided it would be best to form my own race team and create my own opportunities.”

3 Jennifer Jo Cobb also invests in young women’s talents.

“I think it’s important for anyone, at any career, to mentor. A long time ago someone helped me and told me to pay it forward, and I have tried to do that ever since. There is a basic rule in life that to ‘get’ you must give. I don’t think I could ever give enough for all the grace and mercy God has given me,” she told ENTITY.

For example, Cobb cheered on 21-year-old Claire Decker as she made her NASCAR debut. Decker raced in the No. 10 Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing Chevrolet and Cobb was in the sidelines as the car owner and her mentor.

4 But Cobb doesn’t stop at NASCAR. She also supports the nation’s military women.

Aside from mentoring young women, Cobb pays it forward with her not-for-profit foundation, Driven2Honor. Driven2Honor aims to “honor, inspire and empower” U.S. military women. For one, it has hosted hundred of female military members for VIP experiences at the racetrack. But aside from giving them the VIP treatment they deserve, Driven2Honor also provides financial assistance to organizations that support homeless veterans.

5 And to help raise money for her racing efforts, Cobb has her own clothing line.

In 2006, Cobb created a clothing line for female race fans called Driver Boutique, which encourages a “driven” lifestyle.

On the shop website, it explains that you don’t have to be a race car driver to wear the clothes. “It’s not about what you do. It’s about your attitude!” Cobb writes. “Driver Boutique – subtle yet sassy clothing and accessories for the track, for the gym, for those fun casual days … for your driven life!”

Now, she’s combined the online shop with Driven Male to create Driven Swag for motorsports enthusiasts. Driven Swag sells general apparel for race fans.

But regardless of what she’s doing – from racing to building her brand – keep an eye out for Jennifer Jo Cobb because she’s well on her way to the top.
