ENTITY answers the question: Who is Marti Noxon?

Marti Noxon has been behind the scenes of plenty of well-known shows and films.

And if you only know her as the writer of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” you’ve got lots to learn. Thankfully, ENTITY’s got you covered.

Here are five things we know about this talented woman.

1 Marti Noxon originally wanted to be an actress.

According to her interview with Making Of, she wanted to be an actress because it seemed like a glamorous lifestyle. However, after trying to pursue that path, she realized it wasn’t what she wanted to do.

Others often told her that writing was her strength, so she decided to focus on that.

2 And it turns out writing and producing really was her calling.

Martin Noxon first stole Hollywood’s attention with “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” But this almost didn’t happen.

When producers offered her the job to write for “Buffy,” she was considering a similar position for a different show, “The Pretender.” So, she turned “Buffy” down in 1996, but then executive producer Joss Whedon contacted her.

“Fortunately, the creator called and told me ‘You need to take this job. I’ll make you a better writer,” Noxon has said. Thankfully she did because “Buffy” became the WB Network’s second most popular show.

3 She’s got an impressive resume with plenty of successful TV shows and films.

Currently, Marti is writing and executive producing the Bravo comedy-drama series “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce” and the Lifetime series “UnREAL” staring Constance Zimmer and Shiri Appleby.

And before that, Marti co-created “Point Pleasant” with John McLaughlin, was a consulting producer on “Prison Break” and worked as a show runner for ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters.” On top of that, she also joined “Grey’s Anatomy” for its third season as a consulting producer and was the head writer for another Shonda Rhimes show, “Private Practice.”

4 Marti Noxon has opened up about her eating disorder.

According to her interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Marti’s eating disorder had been so severe that she spent the majority of her teenage years and early 20s in and out of hospitals.

By the time she was in middle school, her and a friend had agreed to lose a few pounds before seventh grade by calorie-counting. Though Marti’s friend grew tired of dieting, Marti was hooked.

“I literally couldn’t stop,” she told THR. “And you get rewarded. People would walk up to me, until I got terrifying-looking, and be like, ‘Tell me your secret.’ And if I had said, ‘I swallow a brick every morning,’ they would’ve been like, ‘Which brick? Where can I get it?’ Which just shows you how f—ed up our priorities are.

5 But from that experience, she created her newest project: “To the Bone.”

Marti will make her directorial debut with “To the Bone,” a new film about a young girl’s battle with anorexia. The movie is currently being positioned to distributors as a gut-wrenching young adult tale, one where Marti is at her most vulnerable.

“It’s this Noxon family trait to want to put your finger in the painful thing and go, ‘Does this hurt? Does it hurt now? Does it hurt if I talk about us and my life? Like, will you punch me if I keep doing this?'” she said to THR. “But if that’s where the most authentic writing is going to come from, I’m going to go there and hope that I survive and that you’ll still speak to me.”
