Entity asks, why is being friends with a girl not enough?

Okay, let’s just get something out of the way real quickly — the “friend zone” is bullshit.

It doesn’t exist. It was made up by a bunch of butthurt men. The fragile male ego strikes again. If you decide at some point that you want to start sleeping with your friends, and they do not concur, you don’t get to be mad at them for their friendship.

You should be thankful they put up with your whiny entitlement for as long as they have, and find someone who actually wants to date you/sleep with you. End of story.

But such is our society that not only do we keep perpetuating this myth, but we always feel badly for these poor guys who get “friend zoned.”

Take this Houston Rockets game. The kiss cam comes on – don’t even get me started on these damn kiss cams – and it cuts to what clearly seems to be a pair of friends since the girl does not look into kissing this guy.

But he goes in for it anyway, and she obliges. Probably because she felt like she had to, 1) because a damn camera was on her and everyone was looking, and 2) because he kind of pulled her into it.

And quell surprise, the kiss cam operator was ready with a “Friend Zone” graphic, right quick. Twitter has been sending their sympathies for the guy, using crying emojis and “better luck next time, buddy.”

Like, uhh… we don’t need to feel bad for this guy. He just got a kiss out of this girl who did not even really seem to want to kiss him. Is that not enough? Like, he’s fine.

And if we’re talking about embarrassment here. I think she’s probably embarrassed, too. She had to kiss him on camera. And it’s going viral. So why are we only embarrassed for him?

And, if we’re reading this much into it that we think he wants to date her and she wants to just keep being his friend then… yeah, still no reason to feel bad for him.

She’s not actually doing anything wrong. Women don’t owe men anything. This girl didn’t even have to kiss this guy. Like, it would have been fine if she had just refused. But I bet if she had the coverage of it would have called her a bitch and still been like, aw, that poor guy!

No. I’m over that. The “friend zone” isn’t real. This guy is lucky this girl even kissed him, and… we need to stop feeling bad for him. That is all.
