The day falls on every second week of October. This year it will be on Oct. 13th, 2017.

And according to the IEC, both the chicken and the egg come first in terms of being valued. Thus, the International Egg Commission strives to provide a safe environment for hens and hygienic products for the public.

What are the benefits of eating eggs?

Nutritionists say that eggs are a cheap way to pack a lot of high-quality protein into your diet. Professionals also state that egg whites are rich in vitamin B2, selenium, vitamin D, B6 and B12. Eggs whites also contain minerals, such as zinc, iron and copper.

There is a dark side to putting too many eggs in your batter, though, and it’s no yolking matter.

Experts state that heart disease and eggs can be linked to the traditional American breakfast, which often includes bacon, sausage and ham. Stephanie Wong of Wake the Wolves reports that your average egg may be way below basic than you think.

Wong states that regular eggs that are labeled type Grade A, AA or B are the worst eggs, due to the fact that the hens in this category are treated very poorly. These hens are put in small cages, have clipped wings, have no exposure to sunlight and are not free to roam around.

Which egg guarantees that you will get a healthy serving of protein without putting chickens in the line of danger?Research conducted at Penn State University concluded that going full-blown pasteurized eggs are the way to go.

“Compared to eggs of the commercial hens, eggs from pastured hens eggs had twice as much vitamin E and long-chain omega-3 fats, more than double the total omega-3 fatty acids, and less than half the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids,” said Heather Karsten, associate professor of crop production ecology.

What took place on World Egg Day 2015?

World Egg Day’s main celebratory spot is usually in Vienna, Italy. In the year 2015, though, India decided to take World Egg Day to whole other level.

The Union Government of India celebrated World Egg Day in four different regions, including:

  • Mumbai (Maharashtra) in Western India
  • Lucknow in Northern India
  • Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) in Eastern India
  • Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) in Southern India

The Chief Minister of Andrah Pradesh inaugurated World Egg Day celebrations in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on Oct. 9, 2015. Andhra Pradesh produced almost 200 million ($1,309.59) eggs in the 2014-2015 year.

India takes third place in being the top egg producer in the world. The number one spot belongs to the U.S.A. and in second place is China.

How do different countries celebrate World Egg Day?

Many countries celebrate World Egg Day not just by making your favorite omelet or having egg competitions, but by sharing eggs.

In 2014, Egg Farmers of Canada came together with the Breakfast Club of Canada to provide over 130,000 children with eggs to eat on World Egg Day. They also provided World Egg Day kits that included egg coupons, recipe ideas and posters.
