Ebonee Noel, the new Barracuda on “Wrecked,” is one of the best things about the TBS series so far. As The Barracuda, the feared boss of the pirates, came riding in on her jet ski, I was in the same state as the rest of the characters: awe.

She was gorgeous, confident and that confidence (and her highlight) gave her a wonderful glow.

We immediately wanted to know everything about her. This feeling only heightened when we got to see her takes-no-shit attitude. Women don’t make it in high places by letting people walk all over them. They say what they mean and mean what they say. And boy did The Barracuda have a commanding presence.

The woman we felt like we had to know was played by none other than Ebonee Noel.

She’s movie actress who has previously played in “Product of my Environment,” “Long Nights Short Mornings” and “Tiny Things.” She landed on our mainstream screens relatively recently, but that hasn’t stopped her momentum. She came onto the Hollywood scene and wrecked it (pun intended).

Her character hasn’t had to show her emotions too much – since “Wrecked” episodes don’t focus on range and drama – but her comedic timing is amazing. She’s surrounded by idiots on both ends: her pirates and the marooned flight passengers. So, her sarcastic replies and obvious calls for patience when she speaks to them make each interaction all the more funny.

What She Adds to the “Wrecked” Cast

Unlike many of the characters, she plays someone serious. Nevertheless, she still has comedy circling around her. The only other characters on this show that have roles similar to Ebonee Noel are Owen (Zach Cregger) and Danny (Brian Sacca).

So, it’s about time a woman gets to have a role that isn’t a caricature. Ally Maki and and Jessica Lowe are killing their roles in these “Wrecked” episodes, too. However, The Barracuda adds a nice satirical contrast to their characters.

On top of that, she adds some more women of color to the cast that everyone’s grown to know and love.

And outside of the excitement The Barracuda’s character brings, I also can’t help but remember Diane.

Whenever Diane got on screen, she lit it up. I truly miss Diane this season, and although she’ll never be replaced, it’s nice to get that diversity back.

So far, every minute of “Wrecked” season two has been enjoyable. It looks like it’ll be just as good, if not better, than “Wrecked” season one. And that’s a goal to aspire to!

Like many others, I thought the TBS network cancelled the series. However, they saw the gem that we all see and they knew another season would be worth it in order to continue to bringing hilarity to our TV screens.
