Social media content has taken the world by storm with apps like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. In fact, I’m sure many of us can admit we are borderline addicted to social media. When people go online, they’re looking to be entertained, inspired, or educated.

Ever since social media has blown up, we have started to see a new way for many people to make money by becoming content creators. These platforms have helped people monetize sharing content on their social media and because of it, some of them end up not needing another job.

Social media content creators can make it look easy, but that isn’t necessarily the case. In order to be a social media content creator, you need to post regularly to generate enough interest. The pressure to post creatively and consistently can eventually lead to you running out of ideas for social media content.

I’ve noticed the most important part of creating content is to be authentic and show your individuality, otherwise, it’s easy to lose sight of what to post!

What makes you unique? What would people like to see? What can people relate to?

Being relatable means connecting with your viewers emotionally. You have to know your audience in order to do this while also being your authentic self.

In the meantime, here are some ideas to give you some inspiration for your next post.

1. Showcase Your Style

Most people love to look good! If you have a passion for fashion let it show. Not everyone is good at putting outfits together and they look for a lot of inspiration or tips.

Some of my favorite pieces recently have been found through social media. Social media has become instrumental for a lot of clothing brands, especially smaller ones. Poster Girl recently blew up on TikTok and it wasn’t long before you saw me and most girls posing in our Poster Girl ‘fits. This brand was unknown before, but thanks to TikTok I’ve now seen their clothing everywhere. It’s so popular dupes were quickly being made and purchased.

Also, remember you don’t have to have a certain style or look a certain way to do this. Everybody dresses differently, but there may be someone out there who has a similar style or feels like they can draw inspiration from you.

2. Vlog

It may sound simple, but people love to watch content of creators just vlogging their day. Everybody is from different places and backgrounds so seeing people go about their lives can generate a lot of interest. It can also be really informational if you’re looking to visit somewhere.

I often look at vlogs for travel destinations to help me get a realistic and personal look at what that place may look like.

If you feel like your life is interesting or could be informative at any moment, vlog it.

3. Broadcast Your Talent

Many of us have talents and social media is a great place to showcase them, no matter how weird or quirky they are. Shows like “America’s Got Talent” exist for this very reason – people like to see what talented individuals can do. I know I’m not the only one who has seen people do the weirdest things and couldn’t help but watch. Not too long ago I saw this man go viral because he could bob his head and neck like a bird. Definitely interesting and I couldn’t help but watch, but it was a first I must say.

If you can dance, now is a great time to showcase that! People never get tired of watching people dance and TikTok has exposed that with its viral dances and dance challenges. I’m sure many of us can confess we have participated in or tried to replicate a dance from TikTok.

4. Film Your Trips

Not all of us have the privilege of traveling the world, but most of us still want to see as much of it as we can, even if it’s through a phone. Filming and creating content when traveling can be not only entertaining, but very informative.

I personally take pleasure in watching travel videos. It’s the perfect serotonin boost I need. It’s also really helpful if I’m ever looking for more information on a destination. Sometimes the first place I look when planning a getaway is social media as opposed to articles. People want to see more visual and personal content.

This is also content that appeals to a large variety of people. Men, women, older people, millennials, and more can all share an interest in watching travel content.

5. Post Your Skincare or Haircare Journey

Many people are lost or always looking for ways to improve their skin and hair. Women in general also have a big interest in beauty and maintaining it themselves.

Social media can be an entertaining way for people to find the tips and inspiration to create their own beauty regimens. However, when it comes to topics like this, people like to look towards experts and people who have similar skin or hair concerns.

Share your experience and journey with your skincare routine or tips on how you manage your luscious locks!

6. Share Home Organization and Cleaning Tips

A clean home is a happy home!

People are always searching for ways to help improve their homes. Sharing relatable or educational content on how to better your home could be useful for a large group of people.

It’s safe to assume many are not experts on this topic, but if you capitalize on that you could bring more interest to your page.

7. Share Your Journey as a Parent

There is no shortage of people popping out babies.

Being a parent can be a lot, but like anybody, parents may find pleasure in watching content they can relate to.

Nobody is a perfect parent and many can benefit from seeing other people’s parenting journeys or tips on how they can be better. Some may just take pleasure in seeing relatable content.

People also just love kids! Even with no kids, I have a couple of accounts I watch religiously just because I love seeing their kids and how they raise them. Many like watching content of families despite not having kids of their own yet.

8. Share Your Funny Thoughts

Laughing is the key to happiness and who doesn’t like to laugh? When I go on social media I often hope to see funny content. Social media can be used as an escape from the real world which is why many hope to see posts that will brighten their mood.

I often find the most shared content is usually what people find funny. Research also shows both men and women are watching comedy-related content at a high percentage with women being 50% and men at 52%. Generating funny content would be targeting a large audience of both men and women.

If you’re the funny friend, broadcast that to the world. You may find your friends aren’t the only ones who find you funny.

9. Repost Relatable Content

There is no shortage of “mood” posts on social media.

Sharing relatable content people can repost and write captions like “mood” can generate a lot of interest. Many follow accounts that strictly upload memes, videos, or posts of any kind with the sole purpose of sharing because a large group of people can probably relate.

10. Share Your Makeup Tips

The beauty industry is huge. Women and men love to find ways to improve their looks, especially with makeup.

Makeup can also be seen as an art form since so much creativity and individuality can go into it.

Showcasing your makeup or providing tips and hacks can be very entertaining and informative for many.

Authenticity Matters!

There may seem to be a limit to the types of content you can post on social media, but there isn’t. The key is finding the perfect medium between what other people want to see and what you can offer based on who you are and your interests.

Grab a notebook and brainstorm. What are your interests? What are your hobbies? What do you feel like you’re an expert on?

Before you go anywhere, you have to find what idea makes the most sense for you. People want to see content from people who are educated and experienced in what they’re posting about. Content needs to be valuable, relevant, and credible in order to receive interest from others.

We have to be real with ourselves. If you’re anything like me and can’t sing, it’s safe to assume others don’t want to see content of you singing either. Stick with what you know.

Once you have your ideas, you can explore the different formats to share your content.

Set aside time to write down ideas that can be monetized and remember to be patient. Interest and following from viewers doesn’t always come overnight. Stay creative and consistent.

Be your authentic self.
