Coming up with date ideas, especially for those who have been together for a long time, can be challenging for any couple. Now, quarantine date ideas are even harder to come by.

But that’s no reason for your dating life to be put on pause!

Don’t let your love life succumb to the darkness of quarantine. Create plans, schedule days and times to devote to your partner, and let your creativity be on full display! Here are some romantic activities you can do during lockdown.

1. Solve a Murder Mystery

2. Have a Photoshoot

Post up in your favorite outfits and take pictures. Be cute, flirty, or fun! Whether you are striking a pose against the wall or cooking in the kitchen, enjoy taking photos of each other. After, you can create a photo album. Not only is this a fun and creative night, but you can look back one day and smile with one another. Don’t be afraid to let loose. When you’re in lockdown, it’s between you two!

3. Journey Around the World

Changing up your scenery can be a creative activity to do with a partner during quarantine

One of the worst parts of the pandemic is the several travel restrictions in place. This date idea allows you to change up your surroundings! Set up your home like a country or city you want to travel to. Take that romantic trip to France to eat macaroons, sip wine, and go to the Louvre. Fly over France and head to Germany where you and your partner can eat bratwursts and drink beer. After all, what is better than food, drinks, and your love?

4. Stage a Themed Dinner

Live out your favorite movies and dress up as your favorite characters. For example, get in a classy mood and become Jack and Rose from The Titanic. Any and all movies and characters are an option. Looking to add humor to your night? Be romantic? It is all up to you!

5. Driving Scavenger Hunt

Ditch the four walls in your room for four (or two) doors! Even though you’re leaving your house, you aren’t exposing yourself to anyone. This date can be accomplished in two different ways: you can research the cities around you and find interesting features you can drive to, or use a pre-made list to start your journey. You can find an example of a pre-made list here.

6. Paint a Canvas, or Your Partner

Whether you have a canvas, or your body is the canvas, get creative and colorful with paint night! Paint your favorite animal, “I Love You,” or your face on your partner. There are no rules in painting, so explore every inch of your canvas with any color or design you want!

7. Throw a Private Concert

Concerts are safe in quarantine if they're private

Here’s another quarantine date idea: throw a wild mosh pit in your living room! Grab some colorful lights, blackout the room, and play your favorite songs and music videos. Get even more in tune with your wild side and dress up in your favorite concert outfits.

8. Work Out

Working out with a partner can be a fun way to pass the time in quarantine

You might as well take advantage of being stuck at home. Create an at-home workout plan. The best part is that you don’t need to buy additional weights since you can workout with your own bodyweight. Push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, and squats can help you get into shape. You can also get yourself moving with a good playlist.

9. Solve a Puzzle

Solving a puzzle in quarantine can be a fun way to spend time with your partner

While it may be simple, it could also be fun to spend some time keeping your mind sharp. You can do this by doing an easy or difficult puzzle together. Puzzles are also a great way to bond and build communication. You could even turn it into a competition by doing separate puzzles, and racing to see who finishes first.

10. Pull out the Games

Playing games is a fun activity with your partner in quarantine
Image via Unsplash

Gather up the cards, dominos, boards, and whatever else is needed for game night! Play some of your favorite games like Go Fish or LIFE. If you really want to test the waters, bring out Monopoly! Add a friendly wager to game night, such as whoever loses has to do dishes, laundry, or clean the house. The winner gets to choose tomorrow night’s dinner and dessert!

11. Re-create a Chopped Episode

Image via Unsplash

Try competing on Chopped, but without Ted Allen, Amanda Freitag, or Chris Santos judging your every move as you compile the most random items in your kitchen to make a presentable dish. Have your significant other pick out some random items in the pantry and fridge and see who can create the better dish.

12. Cuddle up in a Fort

ENTITY Mag presents building forts as a fun quarantine activity with your partner

No, not Fortnite, fort night. There is no age limit to reliving some of your best childhood memories. Grab your pillows, all the blankets in your home, and some chairs to hold everything up. No matter how big or small the fort is, snuggle up under the sheets and watch movies. Bonus tip: bring lots of snacks!

13. Star Gaze

Image via Unsplash

Whether you know the constellations or just find looking at stars peaceful, grab your blanket and head out to the wilderness…of your backyard. This is a perfect time to either be quiet and enjoy each other’s company or ask life’s deepest questions, like was that a UFO or just another star?

14. Sing Karaoke

Singing karaoke can be fun with a partner in quarantine

Put down the remote and pick up the mic! Play some of your favorite songs, let loose, and have fun. Add a competitive twist and see who the first one to mess up the lyrics is. Hopefully, there’s no need for ear protection tonight. Zoom in your friends if you want to get a real party started!

15. Dance to Tik Tok

The dream of going viral lives on! Become the next Tik Tok power couple. Whether your talents are cooking, pranking each other, or dancing, get creative and have fun! Bust out those moves, send those hips in motion, and try not to break anything (you know who you are).

16. DIY Crafts

Freedom, creativity, and a date full of surprises. Make a rug, blanket, pillowcase, or even a face mask for your next outing! Surprise your partner with a homemade gift. Have you and the love of your life been wanting to add some furniture? Build it yourself together! Find a project and channel your inner Tim “The Toolman” Allen.

17. Recreate Your First Date

Recreating your first date can be a fun quarantine activity if it's COVID safe
Image via Unsplash

Where was your first date? The movies, dinner, a museum, or elsewhere? Wherever your first date was, re-create it quarantine style! Put on the same clothes if you still have them. Decorate the rooms in your house to reflect the scene where the date took place. Thanks to food delivery, you can order in food from the first place you ate together. How many details or elements you add is all up to you. Just have fun!

18. Make an At-Home Spa

Relax with your partner in quarantine by doing an at-home spa.

A comfortable, yet steamy date during lockdown. Reach total relaxation by pouring you and your partner some wine. Lay in a hot bath, and play some calming music together. Afterward, make your way to the bedroom to give each other massages from head to toe. Work those kinks out!

19. Watch a Movie

Watch a movie with your partner in quarantine for a romantic night

Just because the local movie theater is closed, does not mean that the home theater cannot stay open! Grab your popcorn, candy, and soda and make the long journey from the kitchen to the living room. Dim the lights, kick up your feet, and hit play on your favorite movie or the best movies of 2019. Enjoy the serenity of no one kicking your chair behind you.

20. Keep it Simple

Every quarantine date idea is a good one if it's with your loved one
Image via Instagram / @torimacdougall

Free, simple, and intimate. Whether you lay in bed or on the floor, or do nothing except talk and listen to each other, quarantine is a great place to decompress. Enjoy an hour or three of peace and relaxation. Be intimate and open with each other. Express your goals, dreams, and ambitions both in the relationship and as an individual. What this date looks like is all up to you!
