Now that Deadpool 2 is out, you’ve probably heard of Zazie Beetz. (And mispronounced her name too.)
However, it’s a safe bet to say you don’t know much about her.
To bring you up to speed, I’ve got 3 quick facts to get you in the know about how cool Zazie Beetz really is. Before that though, here are some things you may already know about Zazie:
Now, let’s get into these fast facts.
Zazie is a New York native, but she wasn’t born there.
Zazie was born in Berlin, Germany and attended kindergarten and elementary school there. After that, she was raised in Washington Heights in New York, where she would then attend schools for the arts.
Being able to speak two languages is already pretty tough. So, speaking more than that is nearly unbelievable.
However, Zazie is a polyglot. She speaks four languages, to be exact. According to her website, fluent in English, German, French and even knows a little Spanish.
Because she grew up in Germany, German came easily to her. Note that she even uses it in an episode of Atlanta. English also was easy because of her living in America. However, French was a different story. Zazie has a bachelor’s degree in French Language and Literature from Skidmore College.
In an interview by Donald Glover with Zazie Beetz, she said “I’ve begun feeling that my responsibility is to the Earth. Our generation’s war is climate change, so I’ve really been modifying how I eat and what I eat.”
Besides her dedication to being the best human she can be for the Earth, Zazie is a believer in some of the most relevant topics affecting women: their bodies.
During the filming of Deadpool 2, she let her armpit hair grow out. On Instagram, she posted a photo with a caption supporting the idea of women being free, both physically and mentally.
Sure, so far, Zazie’s biggest projects have been Atlanta and Deadpool 2, but, don’t doubt her abilities. She’s playing roles that can make a difference in the way Hollywood and society view women, especially women of color.
She’s a star rising to the top and this is only the beginning. We’ll be waiting to see what she does next.
Stay tuned!
