5. Alex Elle and Ryan Spear Are Always Being Cute Relationship Goals

In my life, love has become a ritual and an act of bold bravery. It’s important that our 3 girls see love as something tangible. Something they can, not only witness, but have for themselves and feel deep in their bones. . . My husband and I have been together for 7 years, married for 4. Choosing love as a daily practice is the root of our friendship + marriage—even when things challenge us. Even when things trigger us. Even when at odds. Love is at the forefront of how we parent and how we’re raising the kids. Growing up, I didn’t see fun, free, and healthy love (often). Love always looked painful in the worst ways and for most of my life I leaned into dysfunctional patterns with folks (family, friends + lovers) because I thought dysfunction was normal. That in order to be in love, you have to be in some sort of suffering, too. I’m glad I unlearned that. I’m glad that cycle stops with me. . . Something I want to say to folks out there looking for love: You don’t have to look far. . . I found love when I found myself, and in turn, the trajectory of how I gave love + received loved drastically morphed for the better. . . I ain’t gonna lie. Good love isn’t a fairytale. It’s work—both internally and externally. It’s an ever evolving practice of life that deserves to take up space. . . Community: How is love shaping + stretching you? . . For those new here, I’m Alex. I’m an author and workshop facilitator. My goal(s) in my work is to cultivate space for people to find their voice through self-care and writing practice. I’m a mama of 3 daughters and a wife. I am deeply committed to doing my soul work so that I can serve, not only myself, but others.
