Mariah Carey at the American Idol Finalist Party in 2013.

Whether you’re staying in with a warm cup of cocoa or headed to a party to pop some champagne, chances are that you’ll be watching the ball drop countdown at Times Square this New Year’s Eve.

2017’s line-up includes numerous debuts from celebrities, such as a musical performance from Gavin Degraw and a new year’s message from every millennials’ favorite science guy, Bill Nye.

But what about the ladies? Besides Michelle Obama, who will be giving the crowd a video message, and Jenna McCarthy, who will host Planet Fitness’ mini-segment, “Judgment Free,” who are the six women who will be helping us ring in the new year? These ladies give us hope that 2017 won’t be completely awful.

1 Mariah Carey

It wouldn’t be the holidays without Mariah Carey rocking the stage and bringing us all the “Emotions.” With Dec. 25 come and gone, she won’t be performing her famous festive hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Yet her three-song medley is still a major throwback comprised of tunes from 1991 to 2010. Her 2010 cover of “Aude Lang Syne” is arguably even older as it is based on a 1788 Scottish poem.

2 Rachel Platten

Though she’ll be singing her famous “Fight Song,” we doubt Rachel Platten will have to fight for the spotlight this year. The “Stand By You” breakout pop star will grace the stage twice – the only music act granted two sets and five songs in one night. Though the majority of her stage time will focus on new and original material, Platten will also perform a tribute to the late John Lennon with his song “Imagine.”

3 Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estefan fans rejoice: The Cuban-American singer will be belting out her greatest hits at the Times Square event. Her powerful vocals will be paired with the Broadway cast of “On Your Feet” – a play profiling the successful careers of Gloria and her husband Emilo. While the live audience will already be standing, the performance will surely get viewers at home up off the couch and dancing to the tunes.

4 JinJoo Lee

Joe Jonas may be the frontman for the male-dominated band DNCE, but did you know there’s a lady behind the guitar? JinJoo Lee is a South Korean rockstar who didn’t even speak English before arriving in the U.S. to pursue her music career. Before giving the “Cake By The Ocean” pop-rock group some serious girl power, she loaned her talents to A-list female singers such as Jordin Sparks and Charli XCX.

5 Jojo Abot

Though her name may be less known than the others on this list, Jojo Abot is a global superstar who resides in three different continents part-time. With a mix of genres ranging from electronica to afrobeat, this “New Year, New Voices” performer will bring some diversity to this year’s stage. The Ghanaian singer’s song of the night will be “To Li” but the crowd will likely be toasting their glasses to Abot after her performance.

6 Allison Hagendorf

Television personality Allison Hagendorf will be hosting the event for the fifth year in a row. She may not be on the line-up as a musical guest, but the impressive lady is a powerhouse in the music business. In addition to her hosting gig, her extensive resume includes jobs as a music journalist, the Live Announcer of the MTV Video Music Awards and the Global Head of Rock at Spotify. We can’t wait to see her lead the way for the rest of these female performers!
