Like his character, Rick Hoffman is a single friend and a son. And from what we can tell, that’s basically where the similarities end between the two.

Unlike Louis, Hoffman is also a father. He knows how to be charming and he’s not a volatile, angry person. No shade to Louis, but he’s a lot to handle for anyone.

Because Rick Hoffman started his life under more humble circumstances, his personality reflects that. If you already love Louis, then you’ll love the character even more after you read about the man behind him.

1 Rick Hoffman has a son.

Similar to his costar Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman is a father.  He has the most adorable toddler that’s now two years old. Although he and his ex-partner were together for five years,  he’s no longer dating his child’s mother. However, and more importantly, they’re still partners in raising their child and remain very close friends.

And contrary to the “Rick Hoffman and Sarah Rafferty Married in Secret” rumor that was going around, Rick has never dated his co-star. In fact, Sarah married her long-time beaux, Santtu Seppälä, in 2001.

2 He Worked as a Waiter and Baker Before He Got Cast in a Big Role.

Like many struggling artists, Rick worked at entry-level jobs before he got his big break. In his interview with Backstage, he explains how hard these jobs were for him growing up.

For about seven years as he struggled to get a step in the acting industry, he baked and waited tables at many restaurants.

3 He’s really allergic to cats.

Unlike his Pearson Specter Litt Counterpart, Rick’s not a cat lover.

He actually can’t be around cats for too long because he’ll have an allergic reaction. Although it’s sad that he can’t experience the love of domesticated felines, it’s hilarious when you think about the scenes Rick had with Louis’ favorite cat in the beginning of the “Suits” series.

We hardly see Louis’ cat, Bruno, anymore, but now we get why.

4 Rick Hoffman’s Net Worth Is Estimated at $1 million.

One million dollars is far from chump change. What makes this number even more amazing is the fact that he went from baking bagels in the early morning and waiting on horrible people in the restaurant, to being a boss.

Now he can sit comfortably on the hard work he’s done and continue to build his empire through acting.

5 He’s Not Super Confident But He Tries to Be.

Another comment he made in his Backstage interview focused on his confidence. He’s not as insecure and volatile as Louis Litt, but he has said that he has moments when he’s really hard on himself.

So to avoid second-guessing himself all the time and spiraling in self doubt, he promised himself he’d be more forgiving of his mistakes. He’s working hard on gaining more confidence.

6 His Mother Gail Hoffman is Rick’s Biggest and most Carefree Fan.

Rick’s mother, Gail Hoffman, has to be the cutest woman ever. In Rick’s interview with EW, he gave examples about all the carefree things she does when she comes to set with him. They’re so cute and refreshingly wonderful we had to share them here:

“She once got caught on a law show I did called ‘Philly’ trying to take a picture — she was caught on-camera in the background. She does things like this. This particular time around, they’re sitting there in Video Village watching me do a scene with Meghan and Patrick, and all of a sudden, I hear a giggle out of my left ear. I’m thinking to myself as I’m doing my scene, ‘Is that her? If that’s her, I’m gonna kill her.’ She did it three times. She thinks she’s in, like, an airplane with earphones on, watching a movie in her seat.”

We hope Gail continues to show up to Rick’s set times because we need more stories like these!
