ENTITY teaches its mentees about Adobe through Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.

Adobe’s programs provide creative designers with all the tools they need. During our graphic design course at ENTITY Academy, we learned how to utilize Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator in order to develop our personal brands.

And now I can share these lessons with you!

What I learned

ENTITY teaches its mentees about Adobe and personal branding.

We began with Photoshop. Here, we developed quote cards, memes and other graphic content for ENTITY mag. The versatility of the program allowed each mentee to capture their creative individuality.

InDesign came next with resumes and style guides. The application made it easy to create aesthetically pleasing graphics for any professional document. I especially loved its spacing guidelines; the app indicated how each element was framed and centered in relation to other elements. This spacing added professionalism to my templates without forcing me to sit and count out the centimeters.

We tackled Adobe Illustrator last, and it was an entirely new experience for me. I was impressed with its ability to digitize scanned drawings and flexibility in editing lines. In designing our logos, Adobe’s shape creator and line tools were a blessing. Even my unsteady trackpad drawings were smoothed into perfect lines.

This is personal

Whether you are joining the corporate rat race or venturing out into freelance, your personal brand is everything! It determines how your coworkers and employers view you and how they’ll recommend you to future employers. It’s your reputation that precedes you, so it’s essential that you make it a good one.

A good way to start building your brand (and your reputation!) is by building a business card.

Need an example?

Check out my card above. Ever since my baby hands were big enough to fit around a controller, I’ve loved video games. It’s something that has kept me strong through hard times and connected with my friends. Video games are an integral part of my identity, and I wanted to reflect that in my personal brand. With a very niche theme in mind, it was simply a matter of packaging myself onto paper.

Looking to the future

Adobe is a staple for graphic design and photo editing. Being able to incorporate Adobe skills into your resume will differentiate you from other applicants. I myself hope to pursue a career in a creative field, so these skills are especially relevant for me, but they can also give you an edge with any career path.

In addition, portfolios, unique resumes and business cards can further add to a person’s reputation. All of this personal branding would not have been possible without Adobe programs, and they set us apart from the rest of the crowd.

Armed with our new Adobe skills, the world is ours to conquer.
