ENTITY explains why you should always be reaching for success.

Imagine graduating college, landing a great job, buying a home and finally feeling like you have it all. When you’ve reached long-term goals, should you really stop there?

Success is something you should constantly reach for, regardless of how much you’ve accomplished. Put it this way: If you’re truly successful, what are you in for throughout the rest of your life?

It’s important to keep setting new goals even when you have it all because it can keep you motivated and growing. You can learn a new sport, travel to explore new languages, break a bad habit or reclaim an old passion.

If that’s not enough for you, here’s why you should always be reaching for success by setting new goals.

1 You’ll stimulate your brain.

Knowing there are more objectives in your life stimulates you to act, says The Positivity Blog. In turn, you grow personally. There’s always room for growth and self-improvement in your life. This is why grandparents love talking to younger generations – the act of learning new things and interacting with people stimulates the brain.

Additionally, The Positivity Blog suggests setting difficult goals. “The more challenging the goal, the stronger success feeling is related to it,” the blog writes. Because of this, you can gain the motivation you need to achieve bigger goals as well as getting additional stimulus to self-improve.

2 It will open the door for more opportunities.

As stated by Entrepreneur, you should strive to be a lifelong learner because it creates plentiful opportunities in all spheres of your life. This means you should always be hungry to learn new concepts and ideas because the word is constantly changing. Constantly setting new goals will help you stay current, competitive and up to date with the new trends. And because of our digital age, pursuing knowledge is easier than ever before.

3 You’ll learn how to adapt.

As stated above, the world is changing every minute. Thus, you need to know how to adapt. Striving to be a go-getter helps you face your fears, says The Huffington Post.  When you’re constantly setting new goals, you acknowledge your limitations. By doing this, you give yourself a reason to get better, improve and adapt.

Go-getters, as The Huffington Post explains, “choose to not become a product of their environment but are instead outliers.” Not only that, but setting and achieving new goals makes you “culturally competent” and helps you get along well with other people because you “exude empathy and have faced adversity,” says The Huffington Post.

4 You’ll develop powerful habits.

If “having it all” comes with bad habits, success may not taste as good. Sometimes, when you get comfortable with your situation, you grow too complacent and unaware of any bad habits in your life. Constantly setting new goals, however, force you to “get real” with yourself and any poor behaviors. “When we set big goals we are forced to look inward first and make changes there,” says Lifehack.

For example, imagine you decide to set a goal of getting a promotion by the end of the year.  In order to set this goal, you must first “get real” and see that you’re not challenged at your current position.  “It is a courageous (and effective) person who is willing to accept personal responsibility and take a deep look inward to address deficiencies rather than looking outside,” Lifehack says.

5 You won’t be distracted.

You’ve seen it in movies countless times – a successful person makes it to the top, but loses it all because his or her time and money went to distractions. Maybe she bought too many expensive luxuries or maybe all her effort was spent on a conniving person who only wanted her money.

You’d be surprised how short-lived success can be if you don’t know how to weed out distractions. Reaching for constant success allows you to set more short-term goals. As stated by Code of Living, these goals give you mental boundaries that allow you to stay away from certain distractions because your mind is focused on staying on track.

Victory is not determined by the numbers in your bank account or the degree under your belt. It’s not determined by the vacations spots you’ve been to or the title you wave around at work. Instead, victory is when you see achievement in every sphere of your life, but you’re still hungry to find room for improvement.
