ENTITY reports on what is ASMR.

I am often a ball of nerves, exhausted and feel like crying. Just like everybody else trying to work hard for their money, this is usually what I feel like after an eight-hour day.

Okay, so maybe I don’t cry all the time, but I do find myself with the strongest urge to relax. Unfortunately, I’m not living that FWB life and I am definitely too lazy to go to the gym.

If this is you, you can relax right form the comfort of your own room. You just need earphones and something to access ASMR on YouTube. So what do I do? I put on my earphones and go to YouTube to look for a gentle, whispering video of ASMR.

ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. In simpler terms, it produces a sensation equivalent to feeling tingles throughout your body.

Remember when your mom used to gently caress her nails back and forth on your arm? ASMR triggers feel like that. Except this time, you don’t have to drive to your mom’s house and ask for this request in order to fall asleep.

This growing relaxation method sends people into a stress-free zone and has amazing benefits that we’ll break down for you.

1 ASMR is a holistic treatment for insomniacs.

Dr. Carl W. Bazil, a sleep disorders specialist at Columbia University, says that ASMR gives our brains a break.

“People who have insomnia are in a hyper state of arousal. Behavioral treatments – guided imagery, progressive relaxation, hypnosis and meditation – are meant to try to trick your unconscious into doing what you want it to do.  ASMR videos seem to be a variation on finding ways to shut your brain down.”

I had suffered and still do at times suffer from insomnia. I can vouch and say this is a drug-free method that really helps.

2 Anxious much? This could help you.

After a long day of work, my brain is still going 100 mph thinking, “How is tomorrow going to be? Should I take a shower, I’m smelling a tad bit interesting?” Or my favorite thought, “What am I going to eat later?” These questions can send me towards a downward spiral of anxiety.

A recent study conducted by graduate student Emma Barratt surveyed 500 ASMR aficionados. Of those 500, 69 percent of them said ASMR alleviated their insomnia, depression and anxiety.

3 It’s free. So why not give it a go?

ASMR sounds and videos are available on YouTube for your viewing pleasure. The most famous ASMR enthusiasts of the ASMR community is Maria. She is on her way to having almost a million subscribers and she never has anything less than one million views for each video posted.

She is also so passionate about ASMR that she told FOX 5, “I think it’s my destiny to bring awareness to the public.”

The various videos you see on Maria’s YouTube channel are whispering sounds, tapping sounds and role-playing, which is most popular. When she role plays, she pretends to be a hairstylist, a makeup artist or a tailor.

I know it’s starting to sound sexual, but it’s really not. It’s like going to the salon to get your hair done. It’s relaxing and therapeutic. Remember, this is not to turn people on. Rather, it’s to help us turn our minds off.

See for yourself in the following ASMR video.

So, are you stressed and need to relax? ASMR videos will send you off to sleep by whispering sweet nothings into your ear.
