With 35,000 likes in its first 45 minutes on Instagram,  this reunion photo of the original stars of  Law and Order: SVU has proved an arresting sight for fans.

Series star Mariska Hargitay posted a sweet pic with her former co-star Christopher Meloni and viewers of the long running crime show were overjoyed to see the actors who played Detective Olivia Benson and Detective Elliot Stabler back together again.

Meloni left the show in 2011 but has remained good friends with Hargitay and proved it by planting a tender kiss on her cheek in the much shared photo from a recent get together.

Their Benson and Stabler characters were never romantically involved but had such amazing chemistry that fans dubbed the duo “Bensler.”

The special bond is still there judging by Mariska’s fan thrilling post, which was accompanied by the words, “And then this happened…Just when I thought Valentine’s Day was over.”

They shared 12 seasons together until Meloni left the series at the end of season 12 following a contract dispute.

Now in its 18th season, the popular crime show recently aired its 400th episode.

Mariska Hargitay remains at the center of the show and is one of the highest paid stars on TV, earning a reported $500,000 per episode.

Meloni has moved onto other shows, like WGN’s “Underground” and Netflix’s revival of “Wet Hot American Summer.”

He has stated he is open to the idea of a return to SVU for a few episodes in the show’s final season – whenever that happens to be.  But with ratings still high, the end is not in sight for the enduring crime drama, which often features “ripped from the headlines” storylines based on high profile real life stories.

“Law & Order: SVU” airs Wednesday nights at 9pm on NBC and is a hit all around the world.
