Which dog is right for you?
Some people believe that zodiac signs have unprecedented bearing on our everyday lives and relationships.
Those relationships are usually categorized as those with other people. But we try to be inclusive here at Entity Mag, so we added our furry friends into the fun. Dogs have perhaps the strongest relationship with mankind of any animal. So we paired each zodiac sign with a different breed for anyone considering a new furry friend.
As a Capricorn, you’re both the first and last zodiac sign of the year. You’re responsible and family-oriented. Some people might call you a “know-it-all” but you can shut them up. Because you’re actually quite knowledgable.
This breed originated in the Swiss Alps. Bernese are wonderful family dogs. And are versatile enough to be working dogs as well, known for mountain rescue missions. Plus they’re furry enough to keep you warm as you drink a cup of tea and read a book.
Calm, sensitive and reserved around strangers, they’ll fit right in with you. You can’t live anywhere too warm with these guys though. Their average life span is much shorter than other pups, but they’re worth every minute.
As Aquarius, your zodiac sign is very goal-oriented. You’re a person who craves socialization. But a reserved quality is in your nature. Stylish and drawn to bold prints, we picked a pooch that reflects both your personality AND your fashion sense.
Look at this pupper! Dalmatians have it all. Style, grace and personality. Their black and white spots are stylish enough that acclaimed designer Cruella de Vil designed a coat in their honor. She ended up not making the coat. But Dalmatians haven’t lost their flair as the most posh and stylin’ dog breed.
As an intelligent Aquarius, you’re willing to put in the work to train them. And training isn’t something you can skimp on with a Dalmatian. Like you, Dalmatians are social but conservative in social settings. So put on your best outfit, grab your pooch and hit the runway.
The Pisces of the Zodiac are creatures of comfort. You enjoy creativity and sleeping. And having a gentle and wise nature, you need a gentle and wise pup.
Pug’s are an awesome dog for a Pisces. They’re a lot of dog in a tiny package. Like Pisces, pugs have creative minds and often find themselves getting into mischief. They’re even-tempered, but not very active.
A pug will just hop in your lap while you write or compose. They respond well to training. And Pisces respond well to not being a disciplinarian all the time.
Aries! You guys are super enthusiastic and outgoing. People with the Aries zodiac sign are natural leaders. You’re super determined and engaged in the activities you do. And you need a lot of stimulation for your mind.
The fact that the symbol for Aries is a ram is not lost on me. A Border Collie is a hardworking, herding breed of dog. They are super intelligent. These dogs are incredibly active and enthusiastic about training.
So you’ll have a ball working with a Border Collie and pushing the limits of what they can do. They’re great with other dogs, which is good because Aries love to give themselves a lot to do.
Stubborn is the word most people think of first when you’re talking Taurus. But people with the Taurus sign are also really reliable, practical and patient. In terms of activity, you like to take up chill hobbies like gardening and cooking. You need a little buddy who can hang out at your side while you’re accomplishing things.
This little lion (as Shih Tzu means “lion” in Mandarin) is the best companion for your activities. The little doggo is down to accompany you through thick and thin. These pups are just as stubborn as you.
It apparently takes between 80 to 100 repetitions of a command for a Shih Tzu to master it. But since you’re just as stubborn, you’ll stick with the training until they get it right.
Okay, you guys. Gemini is a super gentle and inquisitive zodiac sign. And you’re also super flexible. You absolutely love being social to the point that solitude gives you a bit of anxiety. A Gemini never does the same thing the same way twice. There’s an inherently familial, caring element to your nature.
Labradors make up a group of some of the most popular dogs, especially in working fields. They’re extremely friendly (great with kids) making them an awesome choice of companion. You can socialize all day long and your Lab would have the time of their life. “High energy” is definitely a good way to describe these dogs. So they can keep up with a Gemini’s fast-paced, social lifestyle.
Let’s face it. People say that Cancers are the most emotional zodiac sign so often because it’s pretty true. But it’s not a crime to be intimately connected with your feelings. If anything, it’s an advantage. Your nature lends itself to deep bonds. Your friends often look to you as a support system.
What dog could possibly be more supportive than a Golden Retriever? Goldens are often employed for work that requires a super intuitive dog. They’re great at sensing how their owner is feeling. And being born to please, they’re super eager to cheer their owner up. And as a moody Cancer, you need a pup that is on hand as a support system for you, since you’re supporting everyone else.
As a happy and passionate Leo, you’re ready to go all in when you’re starting something new. You need to be the center of attention and a leader. And you find joy in the company of friends. Leo’s are also great problem solvers… with expensive tastes.
Huskies are the perfect fit for a Leo. As a leader, you’ll have no problem showing your Husky exactly who the Alpha dog is. Huskies require diligence in training. And as a Leo entering dog-parenthood, you’re super passionate about getting their training right. These guys love everyone and everything and will fit right into your active, social lifestyle.
Hardworking, analytical and attention to detail are key traits of the Virgo zodiac sign. You have a particular fondness for animals. And as a loyal individual yourself, you really appreciate the loyalty you get from dogs. You also like nature and cleanliness. But you don’t want to ask anyone for too much help.
The German Shepherd is extremely loyal, a quality you both share. And also extremely intelligent, because as anyone who knows a Virgo is aware, you do not suffer fools. You’ll be able to care for your German Shepherd, taking on the challenge of training them.
But it won’t be a great deal of stress because your dog will be just as hard-working as you are. GSDs require frequent mental workouts as well as physical ones. So you’ll be able to use that noggin to devise mentally engaging games for your German Shepherd.
If you’re a Libra, you’re interested in everything being copacetic. Not into conflict. Or aggression. But you are happy with company, in a fair environment.
A perfect companion for your afternoon park picnics. A Corgi is an affectionate and strong little dog. They’re very friendly and enthusiastic, but lack some of the aggression that you might see in other breeds. Since you hate injustice, you don’t have to worry about whether everyone is getting equal cuddle time with your Corgi. They’re social, so if they’re the party dog, no one’s going to feel too left out.
Assertive. Brave. Mysterious. Those are the words we hear when we think of Scorpio. You can be jealous and you love being right. So you need a four-legged friend that doesn’t put up too much of a ruckus.
Chihuahua’s are the best breed for a Scorpio. They’re not going to give you a whole lot of pushback that you can’t handle, because they’re in such a tiny package. These pups aren’t very friendly at all toward strangers. So you’ll always be their favorite when it comes to them showing affection.
Super generous Sagittarians have a taste for travel and a lust for life. They don’t like a lot of wildness in their lives though, finding themselves to be conventional thinkers. As a Sagittarius, you’re very social, but not interested in a lot of individual investment. So you need a pup that’s portable and personable.
The Boston Terrier is a great breed for you. They’re on the smaller side, so you won’t have a lot of trouble taking them most places. They’re very friendly and able to adjust to change quickly, which fits into your lifestyle. They’re very willing to learn which avoids a great deal of impatience that can flare up in you. So you’ll have a travel buddy for the road and a new best friend.
