Entity shares why Bumble is a hot mess.

It’s the 21st century and dating is just weird.

We always hear stories from older generations about how in their time things were different. Boys asked the girls they liked out on dates. Like, they legitimately asked, “Will you go on a date with me to get a milkshake?” Nowadays, how often does that happen?

We have dating apps like Bumble and Tinder. There are websites out there with the sole focus to find you a match. For example, Farmersonly.com, Christianmingle.com and Match.com.

There’s nothing wrong with the apparently five percent of Americans who are married or in a committed relationship and say that they met their significant other online.

But I’m sure that there are some of us out here in the dating world who want to meet someone in real life. No Bumble, Tinder or farmersonly.com involved.

Dating is SO weird nowadays.

First and foremost, I would just like to say that we all know this. Do people still get asked out on real dates? Not a text that says “Want to go eat?’,” but a real “Would you like to have dinner with me?”

What I find so complicated about dating apps like Bumble is that in reality it’s like an ego boost. About 1/3 of people on online dating sites aren’t going on dates. It’s like you match, start a conversation and then, boom, they’ve disappeared and are on to the next.

Don’t lie. You know it’s an ego boost.

I say this as someone who has tried Bumble and Tinder. Heck yeah, it boosts my ego when I see the number of matches I have. Like, these cuties think I’m cute, ooo dang.

BUT, that’s all that it is. It’s cute people telling other cute people they think they’re cute by SWIPING. I’m pretty sure they chose swiping because you can just sit there for hours.

It’s not that serious…

What really gets to me about dating apps like Bumble and Tinder is that they’re marketed as dating sites, but really they’ve turned into hookup sites. I like to think of Bumble as the classier Tinder.

Especially, because on Bumble it’s the girls who make the first move. But, back to it not being that serious. These online dating apps are used more as a way to find hookups, so it slims down the possibility for anything real to happen.

All in all, dating has definitely changed since my grandparents did it. I’m sure that Bumble and Tinder will continue to be used. I’m also sure that there are people out there who do take it seriously, because something worked for those five percent of Americans.

And to those of you who will continue using these dating apps, well, may the odds be ever in your favor of finding whatever it is that you’re looking for.
